ooops…
US Air Force staff in Suffolk have appealed for help in finding a landing gear door which fell off an aircraft mid-flight.
The door dropped from a KC-135 refuelling plane during a flight from RAF Mildenhall to the Wash.
I know if some people round here found it they’d probably try and weigh it in :laugh_at:

Why are they so desperate to find this door? Is it radioactive or something? 😉
I expect they just want to put it back on the plane, as it must be getting cold in there and specialist aircraft parts aren’t cheap – its not as if they can go down the scrappy in Thetford and pick up a new one no questions asked :laugh_at:
mind you our lot thought they had left a live missile on board a heli just returned from Afghanistan and had to call the bomb disposal from Colchester! (thankfully it wasn’t a live missile, but that begs the question of why you would deploy a heli with a inert one in the pods for active service – MOD cost cutting anyone?)
As I type I am barely 10 miles away from where this happened!…
joking aside, this sort of stuff shows we are definitely at war now, same as in the 1940s. Whilst air attack on GB is unlikely, its still real war – there was two processions to remember the dead and wounded from our area recently…
Near where I live theres a big yank airforce base, they dropped a practice missile into the village green of one of the villages round here a while back, I think it was holme on spalding moore or somewhere.
it burried itself about 3 meters into the ground and they had to dig it up with a JCB.
Easy mistake to make though:laugh_at:
