Hey all,
I know we have some individual threads on festivals and potential meet ups,
but I thought it might be good to have a 2012 one too, where if we want we can say which ones we are going to and whether others on here are too and if we wanna meet up?

TBH it doesn’t help that nearly every legal music event is now balkanised into the North. OK I think Glade is in this area), but there are reasons why I will never attend Glade (got nothing against those what do) – some are to do with its history but the main one is I refuse to spend what is more than a months mortgage payment merely on a weekends hedonism (at least the interest bit, the capital cost I save for with another account at the moment).
plus as I admittedly and unashamedly like what is the “cheesier” end of trance its cheaper to go to NL from here as they charge way less for ticket prices, as there are more accepted venues. That said I’ve been reading a few Dutch sources which claim they are trying to clamp down on Amsterdam’s drug related nightlife, and similar is happening in the coastal areas. Ipswich’s strict licensing policy actually was lifted from ideas the Dutch came up with 10 years ago!
I’d rather go to a metal festival, like hellfest or ass I said damnation. I prefer the crowds, no K’d up zombies or dodgey travelling folk. Might save up and go download next year, as I know opeth play there regularly and I really like them.
Not really one for raves, a lot of the time I don’t/won’t go cause of the location and I get a bit sketched out by some of the other party goers

Sorry bruv but you have no clue what you’re talking about. How can you say what is a good festival and what sort of people are there if you’ve never been.
Honestly festivals are the highlight of my year by far, i’ve even done weekends completely sober at festivals when i was younger and it was still the highlight of the year easily.
they are magical places and until you go you can’t say it’s just a load of k’d up zombies (the majority of people don’t even take ketamine they’re on uppers or booze and just wanna make friends with you and be really fucking nice), sorry but your ignorance is holding you back from going to decent parties and festivals. If 5 people you knew well took you to a rave in a field i bet you’d love it and take back all this hate (which sounds more like fear tbh) from it. kisses 😛
BTW if you don’t like big crowds of people even thinking about Download festival is ridiculously stupid, do you have any idea how big that piece of shit corporate festival is???! 100,000 people were there this year, 100 fucking thousand people, talk about a load of fucking WANK. If you want to get any sort of intensity from these sort of capacity festivals you have to stand in crowds for hours and put up with some heavy shit man.
At a small festival like Shambala i will be walking to the front of Luke Vibert with ease laughing at the idiots who don’t have a clue that there’s better because they never bothered branching out and going to anything else. The Shambala 2012 capacity is 8000. You know what’s also great about smaller festivals, you don’t spend all fucking day walking, you know how long it takes to walk at stupid shit like Download, ages, and they search you when you go in ‘the arena’. NO FANKS.
I wish i could afford to buy you a shambala ticket cos i know it’d be an epic deed, sadly it’s too much dorra 🙁 I’d pay for you to see deadmau5 in hyde park though, i paid for daft at aphex twin last year 😛 sadly that isn’t a proper festival but it’s still jooks.
One more thing just to show how nice a festival shambala is,
Louise went down to Shambala Festival to check out their family friendly credentials for Festival Kidz. Louise lives and breathes festivals, so much so that she even took her newborn baby to Glastonbury last year just days after an emergency c-section! So what did she make of Shambala then?
“Wow! It was all the best bits of Glastonbury, but smaller, more accessible, and less middle class. The very first thing we felt on entering the site was a warm welcoming vibe, something Shambala is well known for.”
