I don’t know exactly why but something with stopping usage suddenly being terrible and potentially deadly as well as becoming dependent quicker than other benzos, if you’ve ever seen someone cold turkeying xanax it isn’t pretty, but some hospitals have stopped using it because of they think it is too addictive/dangerous.
Cold turkeying ativan wasn’t pleasant but I didn’t think I was going to die.
