  • Hey Kids, I came across this on facebook somewhere. I hope some of you find it useful.

1.Flammable and inflammable mean exactly the same thing.

2.If you or someone you know is stabbed or punctured by a sharp object, do not remove it. The object is preventing blood from gushing out.

3.Do not turn your back on someone holding a gun to you – it is much easier for them to shoot you if they don’t have to look you in the eye.

4.If you are stuck in a riptide, stay calm and swim parallel to the shore.

5.Do not walk down the stairs with your hands in your pockets, because if you trip and fall you cannot protect yourself by throwing your arms out.

6.Crocodiles are very fast in a straight line, but do not turn well. If you are being chased after by a croc, run in zig-zags.

7.If you ever almost drown to the point of throwing up water or passing out, even if you feel 100% fine, go to the hospital. Your lungs can actually unwittingly self-fill up with fluid over the next few hours.

8.Should you run out of water, you can eat snow to stay hydrated but it is probably not the best idea because your body uses a ton of energy converting one form of matter to another.

9.If you are ever in the presence of a bear, remember this helpful rhyme: If it’s brown, lay down. If it’s black, fight back. If it’s white, good night.

10.If you feel something if not right with a person, situation or a place, you are probably right. Do not ignore these instincts. In these situations, do not be afraid to be rude, just leave.

11.When crying for help, try calling out specific people to help you, for example “You in the blue shirt, help! I’m being attacked!” Instead of just yelling “Help! I’m being attacked!”

12.If a stranger gets in your car and orders you to take them somewhere, crash your car. You will no longer be useful to them because the car is damaged and you’ve drawn attention to them by crashing the car.

13.For bikers, runners and pedestrians: Do not stop in a driver’s blind spot, just because you can see a car does not mean they can see you.

14.If your plane lands on water, do not inflate your life jacket on the plane. An inflated life jacket can restrict your movement and prevent you from getting out of the cabin quickly.

15.If cooking with oil and it catches fire, do not throw water on it in an attempt to put it out. Water will sink to the bottom of the pan and evaporate immediately allowing the flames to shoot even higher. You should turn off the heat and cover the pan with a lid.

16.You can perform the Heimlich Maneuver on yourself. Place your fist above your navel while you grab your first with your other hand. Lean over a chair or counter and push your fist towards yourself in an upward thrust.

17.If you are ever caught in a house fire, drop to the floor and keep as low as possible while moving towards the exits in order to avoid breathing in too much smoke. Most house fire deaths come from the smoke inhalation, not burns.

18.If you don’t have mace or a weapon and you are being assaulted or mugged, it has been found that shinning a very bright flashlight into the eyes of your attacker, especially at night, could be just as effective and give you the opportunity to get away.

19.If you ever get lost on a hike – try to find a river as they always flow downhill and join a larger body of water that may help you regain your bearings. Or you can look for a fence, which usually means buildings and roads are close by.

20.Rohypnol or Roofies has a slightly salty taste.

21.If someone has a concussion, elevate their head so that fluid doesn’t build up in their brain. Lift their head slightly, about 20-30°. Although, if you suspect a spine injury, it’s important to not move the injured at all.

22.If you are in a crowded space, take note of the exits. In case of fire or some other kind of disaster, people will always try to go out the door they came in, causing a jam.

If anyone has something to add to the list post it.

    Thanks Epic!

My favorite is Number 11. I have a hard time describing someone as it is, i imaging being at death doors and shouting ‘hey you.., you with.. the hair?’

great.. hi epic..5th one is epic…:D

in smaller countries like the UK its hard to get completely lost (although can happen Scotland, Northern England and Wales) but if you can see overhead cables of any sort you are not that lost – following them will eventually lead to an inhabited area or a road (as in remote areas the electric company needs to get access for maintenance and big trafos have to be brought in on big vehicles).

Pylons and poles also all have ID numbers on them and can be used as landmarks in areas where everything looks the same..

[/quote]This is very much worth mentioning, following power lines or water is a great way out of the woods.

likewise croc..if got chased by snake then run in zig zag motion.

yeah.. i have one with my own experience. if u gotta some medicine allergy or any pills allergy after eating it then eat onion to reduced the affect of drug.

Are you from PH or MY? (My extended family are from Malaysia). They mostly live in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur and Penang so crocs aren’t so much an issue; but snakes are occasionally encountered although less so nowadays as people were catching them and and even the smaller sun bears (as many are only the size of pit bull) and selling them for pets on Facebook (this is illegal, the Environment Ministry were trying to put a stop to that).
