  • Strangely my application to join google’s adsense program was rejected yesterday siting “difficult navigation” as the reason although I take it as a euphamism for teh fact they don’t like our content unless I’m mistaken?!

Adsense tends to perform poorly on forums in my experience.

Just apply for another accont but dont mention partyvibe. You can still put ads up on any site you like once you have an account.

I’ve had mixed feelings about joining them and I was only going to experiment but now I’m put off…

TBH I think its also that its difficult to classify the exact content of any forum TBH – and thus target the ads accordingly….

for instance although our predominant focus is about raves and there is a slant towards progessive politics there have been discussions on subjects as diverse as bicycles and wild animals –

I do think this sort of ad would go for the less controversial forums. Works both ways. I’ve seen forums supported by adsense which have come up with ads for drug testing kits on their drugs discussion forums!

i always find adsense very irritating personally

i agree that our content is very hard to pin down – very varied:groucho:

I dont think the content matching would be a problem.

I think that being a forum your CTR (click through rate) would be low and this affects the the quality and click price of the ads displayed.

In my experience of adsense (a few years) if you can get a click through rate of above 20% (or at least 10%) then it might be worth it.

I dont think it would do much good to PV bearing in mind how little revenue i predict it will make.

If your still interested in a tester i could set up a ‘channel’ on my account and send you over a weeks worth of data.
