See if you can make some money on the side panhandling and playing gospel songs.
Alas there is way too much competion round here.
Not sure if its as common in USA but we have this surreal mixture of Christian music and Britpop; it is like a more upbeat version of shoegaze (which makes sense as you are supposed to be looking up to Jesus rather than at your own shoes). A bit like Ed Sheeran / Mumford & Sons + God.
A great deal of the less obviously religious tracks/bands even finds its way into mainstream guitar pop aimed at teenagers and many vocalists do double duty on both secular and religious music.
it was only this year the music day had a declared “Christian stage” and that is likely only because of some licensing law regarding diversity and transparency. Before that all the guitar based bands were together on one stage and no one noticed.
Even funnier was one of the bands (these two sisters from a middle class bit of SE England) also turned up on Radio Maria Nederland live youth day broadcast the next year. As they do not know any Dutch they (along with various others) were interviewed in English by the presenter (who is proficient in both languages), but as these girls were trying to talk “street” (like Lily Allen minus the swearing) he had to apologetically explain on air that “he was unable to follow their accent” :laugh_at:
