  • Very impressive.

    You’re never too old!

Well the scene itself IS pretty old (25 years) so those who where there at the start would all be your age and older anyway.

In my experience the average age for ravers at ‘modern’ events (popular DnB producers, dubstep new house ect) are in their late teens and early twenties. However acid techno, techno and old scool parties pull a crown whee the average raver is in their 30s/40s.
I see the oap raver which is always nice as they are more relaxed and can make a decent conversation with you.

Just do whats comfortable, man !

I’m 26 and feel too old, but that’s my back issues speaking.

The Grammar Nazi is confused. Are you implying you were secretly impressed with my helicopter penis dance; despite your snorts of derision during my performance?

Or was that just a compliment to my swollen member, which admittedly isn’t really that big, a minor hint of the clap had caused the swelling.

no no, it was back in 2011 i think daft invited me to come down to the manor or Enfield for a knees up which ended up in me and some man mountain called kev getting stuck outside a rave cause I’d not long hurt my ACL and big kev had terrible back pain, so we fucked off smashed a gate in and had our own knees up, I woke up somewhere, tieded up the mess eveyone else mad, left got a wagon to dafts, ate chiche and threw up from Codiene, watched yip man, watch the hip displacement sense about 3-4 times was it?
I’ve still got that Billy Connolly DVD you gave me! Did Finbar ever fix that gate?

Yeah it got fixed aggeees ago man lol, funny remembering that night, was such a shame they weren’t letting people through the front of that party, I kinda assumed you’d both just follow us up over the roof to get in lol. We were waiting inside for ages for you two, but you were both crippled lol … was a bit of a heat of the moment thing as we didn’t know how long the make shift wooden pallet stair way would be there to get on the roof so just made a dash for it whilst we had the chance. >.<

Didn’t bother me, I’d drank about 12 cans red stripe and and was far from in reality, me and kev mugged off a taxi drive biiiiig time, paid him a 20, got 50 back! kev had a bag wonk that night the cheeky git.

As someone whose 30th birthday darkly approaches, I figured it’d be fun to get people’s opinions on a very important and serious matter:

At what age is it time to hang up the glowsticks?

A: If you have to ask, you’re already too old. Loser.
B: When you start to feel noticeably older than everyone else.
    C: You’re never too old!

In UK it does seem that all clubbing is aimed at the 18-35 age group but in NL there are people 50 and above regularly attending EDM events. I am lucky that (due to ancestry) I am regularly mistaken for someone in their 20s, and that SE Asian chaps are equally common in many parts of NL and DE (there are 18 Chinese restaurants even in a rural area of NL).

At some time I want to visit NL, and the Ganzenparadijs, the big electronics / hi fi / radio amateurs field days, the studios of Radio Maria, meow with the cats at the Schiedam cat show and see Armin Van Buuren; but from what I have seen there is no reason why I could not do all of these things at any age between 42 and 60+ as it seems like a lot of Dutch chaps do exactly that. (there is also a convenient train that stops near all these places, and space to put my e-bike on it).

(I am still going to get called aside by Border Force on the way back in anyway whether I am 40 or 70 as they will find it hard to believe I actually bothered to learn Dutch and travel 500km across the country for legitimate reasons…).

I recently watched this youtube video of this dude in NLwho built his own hi fi amp using EL84 valves in 2011 and used a house track as backing music, although he does also listen to (and transmit) piratenhits. To have the skills and spare time to do that he must be the other side of age 45. There does seem to be a crossover between the piratenhits scene and hardstyle/gabba/hardcore followers (I think the radio pirates are their dads!)

Auch wenn du am Abgrund stehst, und gar nichts mehr verstehst,
wachen Engel über dich, halten dich im Licht und lassen dich nie fallen.
