I posted the links to the actual ACMD letters on the NBOMe thread as this is temp banned as well. (for those reading in other countries this applies to the UK – in some countries the substance remains uncontrolled, in others its already banned).
TBH the 5/6-APB cost as much as MDMA per dose, was still relatively unsatisfying unless you took another stim with it (increasing the risk of unpleasant reactions), has a far rougher comedown and is similar to early 1990s pills which did actualy fuck over a lot of people so these chems being banned isn’t really a great loss.
Its more interesting to see how much hasn’t actually been banned (as the govt could easily ban all RCs if they wanted to or introduce a USA style analogues act).
Also if you read the full ACMD report (16 pages) it shows they are making their judgements on evidence from hospital emergency admissions in the UK and worldwide, and taking evidence from health authorities rather than just law enforcement. What the ACMD boffins are particularly concerned about (and not without good reason) is the headshop blends of these RC’s and all kinds of random stuff which nobody knows what they are, making them as bad as if not worse than street pills.
its almost as if the UK is very begrudgingly considering adopting the more pragmatic approach off nearby Northern European countries but also stopping short of overt tolerance of drugs use.
In the Netherlands comparatively few people bother with any sort of RC’s as the tolerated testing régimes (funded by confiscation of profits from dealers and fines from those driving under the influence (they are way harsher about that than UK) actually keeps drug dealers honest and users sensible.
