    Where you located man?

Also any idea what design the folded horns are. Quite interested.

Folded horns are a phase nightmare – dont do it :scared: you will need to spend ages sorting out the rig to get it back in phase :hopeless:

Hmmmm….never had any problems so far, plus these are for a side project if you will. Well more a new project than a side project. I’d need to see the plans to see if they are suitable though. That and how far away they are.

Never had that problem or didnt realise it existed? if you have folded horns and you havent made a phase adjustment you have this problem :groucho:…

Its a piece of piss to sort out nowadays….just you showin your age 😉

Even the Ultradrive has a wicked auto align function nowadays. All you need is a condenser mic an your sorted.

I dont have that problem – I dont bother with folded horns :groucho: and yes I could adjust for them very easily but why bother? I like radiator port tuned cabs 😛

I just prefer folded horns. The throw on them is a massive advantage if they’re getting used outdoors, less bins more noise.

Yeah lets have more throw so we can upset people further away :groucho: ; the short throw is what I find so attractive about radiators . Why have long throw bins without the short throw ones? Or do you have short throw bins too?

Agreed. Even without the mic it’s a piece of cake. Phase alignment is not an issue, however the throw on the bins can be a problem like Raj mentioned.

Pick the right spot though, and again, it wont be an issue.

Direct radiators/bandpass/reflex are great for medium sized rooms but when your crowd is spaced out or at the back of a large room then they are not so useful without the use of delay stacks.

I haven’t studied sound at an academic level so you would no doubt know more about the theory than me, Raj. Although I think it’s wrong to rule out horns as they are very effective when used correctly in the right situation.

Its a bit far south TBH leeds would probably be the furthest I could go. I’ll have to pass.

I am not ruling out the horns – I just think they should be added once a system has radiators for the short throw infill already. Not much point IMO to have a tight sounding set of short throw mids and highs and a long throw bottom end – means that you cant appreciate the sound of the whole rig at short range as the bass is being focussed a substantial distance away from the top end.

If someone wants to have them in their system fair play to them – just pointing out that the short throws should also be present 😉

Yeah I’d agree, although you still get the effect of the bass with horn loaded cabs within a 12 meter(ish) distance they only come in to their own when you are past this distance.
