  • So it seems some of these homeless people are getting a lot of cash, it’d be interesting to pretend to be a homeless person for a day (IN MY OPINION) in central London just to see how much cash you can get… Seems some make over 100 a day :crazy_diz

Don’t shave for a month, get in a sleeping bag, do some downers so you look a state like you’re ill from the street and generally look like a messy pikey. Then see what happens! Get someone to document it on camera too….

I like your style mate. Wannabe tramps of PV unite, we can do this if we really try! I’m gonna be the best damn paraffin lamp I can!

I might do it then use the money to shag a prozzie for a laugh.

Yeah this is my line of thinking… Like I say spice of life, variety, try it all… Though no escourts or prozzies for me for hopefully a long time/never :laugh_at:

being homeless is pretty cool tbh, when I was I cared even less about everything until I was numb to it all…..then I went mad and tried killing myself, but that last bit doesn’t have to happen.

I didn’t, I just stole baaare food to survive.

Man they piss me of so much.
Its a pretty shitty thing to do; pretend you are homeless against your will, depressed and need food when in fact you just want a bit of drug change.

There are some genuinely homeless people out there that want to work and get out the situation but are stuck in a rut. Because of the people above ^ they don’t get as much help or sympathy that they deserve.

Also crusty ‘beggers.’ People that you see at raves that have a home, and you see them sitting on the curb with a hat on the floor.
YOU KNOW they don’t need money but they are just like ‘I’m not doing anything this after noon lets just sit here in the sun and see how much money we get.”

Its pretty bad of me to judge really, but it does make me cross when a really down and out begs me for food money when I know that the chances are 90% hes not genuine.
(in London you can get approached 15 times in one night)

    I remember feeding you a bacon sandwich I’m sure of it…. 😛

and psychoactives at chris the gypos place. that boy has lost it. proper tried to dig into me the other day… said i didnt call him anymore cos he had nothing i could take??!! errrrr no you live in the middle of nowhere now mate, talk about paranoid. i’ve been in his profile picture on fb for like 2 years too? no one else seems to take pictures of him…. maybe he loves me :/

They’re annoying but I can see genuine need in some of them.

In Brixton this woman came up to us like blatantly asking for money for crack lol..

most of them do want drugs, what else is begging for 30 quid gonna get you that’ll heal the pain for a short time….

though i wonder if there’s stories of beggars who literally went full on and saved up their stash of begging cash and stacked it into a lump sum to get themselves a place to stay, fresh clothes, clean shaven and able to get a job with enough time for rent funds. probably…. tbh though most would just buy brown

I had someone say this to me once, too! I guess she has to get the money from somewhere though, better that she gets it from willing strangers than through burgling/mugging people.

It’s easy to say homeless people and beggars are annoying, but I think we forget that not everyone had the same sort of comfortable middle-class upbringing that a lot of us did (I include myself in that). Some people don’t have the safety net of a caring family to step in when their drug use starts to spiral out of control, or bale them out when the landlord is threatening to kick them out for not having rent money. When you combine a shitty upbringing with mental illness (so many homeless have mental health issues), drug abuse or a sudden tragedy and no-one to give a shit about you, that’s a pretty good recipe for a homeless person. Then a lot of them will develop depression if they don’t already have it, and that saps them of the drive to do anything about their condition and they stay on the streets.

Lots of homeless have well below-average IQs too. I’ve always thought that if you’re born into a well-off family and you have a low IQ, you’ll be fine – your parents can enrol you on an ‘interior design’ course or you can teach homeopathy or some shit and make a healthy living fleecing other rich morons. But if you’re from a poor family and you’re mentally retarded you’ll have a much harder time making something of yourself.

I hate the idea that homeless people are there because it’s some sort of lifestyle choice or they are too lazy to get a job (and should therefore not be helped); it smacks of the kind of thing right-wing thinkers like Ayn Rand and the like say to justify spending less on social services. There is usually a pretty colourful back-story behind most of the homeless people you see on the street.

If you’re gonna pretend to be homeless, it would be genuinely interesting to know how much you collect. I’d hope you give whatever you collect to a tramp at the end of the experiment though, as you’d be doing them out of business!

There is no good reason for anyone in the UK to beg, our social security system is badly flawed but it does provide the basics for all

Personally I dont give to beggers on principal, and I dont give to tin rattlers or ‘sponsor me to doing something I want to do people’ either, I make my donations to the charities of my choice via ‘Give as you earn’ direct from my pay, that way it’s tax free and for every £1 I give it only costs me about 80p, more for less, and to charities that will make sure it gets used properly.
