  • hey peeps,

if you wanted to chat with someone, but you didn’t want someone to read, what email is the most secure?

    thanks

Who do you want to hide the message from ? parents? previous (or current) partner? feds?

Depending on IT knowledge of your opponent and the authority they have over you, nothing may be secure.

if they have physical access to your computer or can get it – whether its that “ex you stayed friends with” visiting you and going through your PC files when you are asleep, or 5 armed feds putting your door off the hinges, even if you use hard encryption the fact you suddenly used it or installed it would be a clue irrespective of whether your opponent can actually decode the message.

A bit like walking down the high street in summer whilst wearing a balaclava or other mask, it attracts suspicion. Even if its not feds this sort of thing can destroy a family relationship or friendship through lack of trust.

that said though it might seem old fashioned and if you are talking about large amounts of drugs then caution is advised, its harder than folk think to monitor the voice traffic of an old fashioned telephone. Although in some cases the techie bit is trivial (like if you were a big dealer and feds had already got a warrant to monitor you), in cultural and legal terms there still seems to be more of a expectation of privacy on a voice telephone (especially mobile) than on high tech internet communication (consider how even gutter press journalists are actually being nicked for hacking into phones when they are allowed to get away with all sorts of other surveillance).

However after nearly 20 years of working as a IT/telecoms engineer, and dealing with security of communications, if at all possible I try and avoid getting myself into this situation.

I don’t even do illegal drugs any more these days but when I did and this awkward situation was unavoidable, I’d use a normal phone to arrange a face to face meeting with someone I trusted. Even then I was wary over what I said on the telecommunications network.

I have never arranged to send drugs across national borders so have no knowledge of comsec associated with this and would suggest that if you must do it you weigh up the risks and rewards and be prepared for any comeback/penalties. it seems to be only a caution these days or even just losing your money and a letter from UKBA for small amounts for personal use, so maybe the best advise there is “don’t be overly paranoid but don’t be greedy either…”

This is a pretty anon way of doing it (alltho like GL sais you can never really be 100% secure in one way or another).

How to Send an Anonymous Email Message – About Email

It’s wise to use a mail address that has built in encryption as well.

    true dat fam

How to Send an Anonymous Email Message – About Email

It’s wise to use a mail address that has built in encryption as well.

they used to be used loads in the 90s but real criminal scum and nonces started using them and at least two big remailers just handed over fuckloads of info to the feds in the end, there were (and are) always claims there are backdoors in them.

Apparently if a package of powder isn’t obvious bait hard drugs and isn’t potentially enough of anything else to either make a bomb or be some illegal spices/foodstuff (foreign communities sometimes import powders which contain not drugs but poison chemicals or contaiminants and its often done innocently by folk what don’t realise their curry powder is contaminated) UKBA aren’t that interested in its contents, especially if its only a one-off.

but they do watch repeated transactions and folk have been either hauled up for having RCs or lost their money and just got a letter instead and put on the feds shitlist.

On some occasions they are “invited” to go to the Police station but for a first catch they aren’t arrested, merely shown the test results and told “these are class A/B/C controlled substances, don’t try and import them again or you’re nicked mate..”

    PGP encryption.

    thanks guys.

“free email” and social networks are not “bad” for non controversial stuff and access to messengers. but they are insecure and run by a US corporate what will cough up info as soon as they see a fax from the constabulary – most US corporate networks do that now rather than bother with the Court Order/legal stuff as by using their “free” service you sign a contract that you do not expect privacy from law enforcement and won’t use it for illegal purposes. Plus it saves them money training their security staff to know about all the different legal / privacy laws which of course differ between Beijing and Bexleyheath..

this applies to farcebook, and all other social networks with “private” messages including free email. Also any email what came with your ISP account or hosting account. Worse still they’ve created expectations amongst feds that online networks will co-operate to be “good corporate citizens”.

Even here we’d have to cough up info if there was a Court Order served on us which is why its not allowed to openly sell drugs on here either by forum posts or PM’s (we’ve had a few muppets what have tried spamming users by PM..)
