  • Been living in brighton for some time now, love sicknote techno night but am seeking more free party atmosphere, help me please!

Don’t really many sound systems that play techno in Brighton or near??
    NICE ONE!

Welcome to PV buddy, always good to see posts from a fellow Brighton resident! Check out the http://www.partyvibe.com/forums/free-parties-teknivals/49710-brighton-4.html thread to meet local people. Stick around and make some friends, that’s the best way to find out more about the local scene.

    Will do mate, cheers

I put on Sicknote with a friend, always good to hear positive feedback 🙂

We are doing another one on the 26th of this month with APaul from Naked Lunch Records – you can get more information on the website Sicknote Saturday 26th May – Techno Brighton – A.Paul – Naked Lunch – Tony Montana

As for other techno parties, we started Sicknote because there was very little else on. There used to be Blackbox but they haven’t done anything in a while (Jez has been too busy sorting out his wedding!).

Some friends are doing a nigh next weekend which should involve some decent techno – Llama leaf who play at our night often.

Check out the facebook event page here.

Hey tinnob man, you should post a bit more so you can PM 😉

Sometimes people just don’t have either the time or the internet connection to be a regular poster on here. I think that when people hear that the net is a good place to find partys the use a friends or work connection , google free partys and end up hear. Would be good if he did make a come back though. The more the merrier.

Yeah, it’s a shame how many people pass through only briefly.

Wish I could afford to put something on at the Volks again but who knows now I have a new job i might be able to… the problem is though that as much as people want techno… Techno nights don’t do that well in Brighton

There was always a long wait for a weekend night at the volks whenever we tried to get there. But this was a long time ago.

Im still here boys and girls. Went to sick note at weekend was a bit too minimal for me but still a good crack! Looking forward to weekend gotta be some techno in sussex sun i reckon somewhere.

Cool, mate glad your still kicking around, was sicknote good?

Was a good laugh mate but i prefer my tekno a bit harder, Funky and dirty and pumping will do me very nicely!. You upto much this bank holiday?

    Hi all…
I’m new here, but an old fellow of the free party scene… I have posted in another thread and was directed here…

Im looking to get out and play to people again… I’ve been away for 10 years bringing up a family and working a day job. And the family is great but the day job is sucking hard now.. So if anyone can hook me up with promoters, places to play and places to go, I would very much appreciate it… Here is some stuff about me and what I do…

    Cheers

Inspired by the second summer of love and producing on trackers from age 13, alongside the early Atari ST Demo scene – Akkya was then introduced to Techno at the legendary Clueless Soundsystem parties and soon after started Dj’ing, playing at, and then creating free parties from the mid 90’s.
He then moved on to creating “Contact” in Carlisle in the late 90’s —and then took 10 years off to bring up his family — Akkya is back producing, releasing original work and remixes, and looking to go out and tour from Jan next year…

It’s all about this sort of techno!

I am in Brighton and want techno of this sort………

Acid Techno!! I have a 7K rig that has been partied only twice in about 5 years. Before then it was out most weekends, but while it spent over a year in the custody of the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary me and my missus started a family and I never got back into the swing of things what with the responsibility of a young family.

However, the party vibe has reawakened in me like an itch in my pants and I want to do something!! Most of my old crew have either moved on to pastures new or have family/jobs/responsibility that prevents them from hardcore involvement in running a rig, but there is a few of us still around that want to play out a bit.

I’ve noticed that the free party scene in Brighton today is dominated by drum & bass etc. largely because of the dedication and balls of one sound system in particular (run by a very old friend and someone people on here will know) that seems to be the only older rig in the area that is still fukin’ avin it fairly often.

This is all well n good but a dedicated acid and hard techno rig is needed to mix up the sounds a bit more. I was helping out at a party recently (royal mail!!:devilish:) and there was three rigs that were all playing jungle/d&b of some sort most of the night interspersed with a bit of techno and breaks etc. What happened to having several rigs all dedicated to different musical styles?

Anyway, I digress! I want to know where all the acid techno hedz are in brighton, particularly dj’s – almost all the dj’s I speak to play d&b, dubstep or something. I wanna get me rig out playing purely acid/hard techno but I need dj’s/people who wanna get involved. I know that if I took it out next weekend then the usual suspects would show up with a bag of tunes and play mostly d&b because thats who mostly turns up at parties to play these days. Ideally I would take the rig out alongside a d&b rig and have enough techno dj’s to keep the sounds rolling indefinitely so we can keep it a non-stop techno rig (and maybe change to some ska/dub reggae when the party is winding down on a hot summer afternoon!).

I also need drivers with vans, people with geny, promoters who want to put on club nights/pitches at festivals with a techno rig, visual/creative/lighting people, people with more sound rig to add, basically anyone and everyone who would like to put together a new techno rig and are enthusiastic enough to help make it happen and create temporary environments that are as visually stimulating as they are aurally.

I want to do this and have the sound equipment ready n waiting, but I canny do it by me self – I need help from people who also want to do this… …help from Brighton Techno Hedz!
