  • because of the snow and ice I had to get on one of these to get to work….

I hadn’t been on a “country” bus for years, as normally I would cycle to anywhere withing 16-20 miles of where I am….

Everyone at the bus stand seemed to know and talk to one another (including the driver) (I’m not used to this, coming from London/SE England! where everyone just has minimal social interaction), is this normal for round here?

The vehicle itself was probably older than many people on this forum; it wouldn’t start (diesel waxing up?) and some grumpy looking “blakey” type character with a peaked hat was called out from a shed and had to poke about in the engine compartment..

it was like being a young teenager again…. :laugh_at:(don’t worry, I didn’t spit out the window or tag the vehicle though, I have matured a bit)

I reckon one of these vehicles would make a good party bus :groucho:

I know you ask about your area..I have no idea, but I know how it is where I live :weee:

Usually there are 6-8 busdrivers sharing the same route, and you start to know their names and sometimes talk to them (thats illegal in denmark to talk to the driver while the bus is driving, but I don’t know anybody who have had any problems with the police because of it)

Lot of people drives with the bus to and from work every day..and then you get to “know” eachother..Not private and most of the time you only talk about the “weather” :laugh_at:

But I think it’s a nice thing, especially because I at one time used 1 1/2 hour in the bus just to get to work:hopeless:

      Can be very depressing :crazy_diz

I think this might happen more in the country areas.

A lot of people were going to Stowmarket so they would have been on the bus for a fairly long journey…

There is a lot of common culture/heritage between Denmark and the East of England; especially as Danes invaded East Anglia many times -but not on buses (unless !sinner69! is planning on stowing away with his bus on one of the ships to Felixstowe :laugh_at:)

Yeah, i would say this is common place in the countryside. although our bus is slightly newer by the sound of it.

        Sounds about standard!

They probably all had the same surname, GL. Some of em were probably concieved and born, on that very same bus!:groucho:

I shouldn’t really take the piss tho, as there is a village in Eire, which has about 40 of my relatives livin there (not countin 2nd and 3rd cousins etc.)!

Sounds like everywhere round here 🙂

When i first moved here it was daunting but I have gotten used to it now and get funny looks when I go to cities as I talk [!!!!] to shop assistants and others in the shops:groucho:

Round here not saying Good morning can lead to you not being served in some shops :laugh_at::laugh_at:

Can also mean waiting 15 minutes for the conversation in front of you to finish at the checkout :laugh_at:

Yep. Pretty standard. Don’t use them much anymore, but we used to know the driver of the bus to town enough to chat to. Used to tell us crazy stories about being a paramedic.

Used to let us spark a jay on the last bus back at the weekend and would also drop you off at your house if he was in a good mood (if it wasen’t on the route!)

        Good old boy.
