  • OK, I’m not sure if anyone is aware of reddit.com…but basically its a huge internet community split into subreddits.
These subreddits range from the mundane to the bizaar to the downright disturbing.
    From /baking /atheism /news /comedy /gardening to /porn and /cuteanimals and even /beatingwoman

This year a subreddit was opened called /jailbait and after a long row they decided to shut it down.

This site also has private subreddits which you can only gain access by invite only.

Most members on reddit are big supporters of internet privacy (I’m sure you all heard about SOPA)

Because reddit contains a lot of disturbing content (like websites such as 4chan) I’m suspicious of the names of some private subreddits by there name.

Theres one called /princess which I suspect hoard CP (possibly to replace /jailbait) There is also one called /tocatcharedditor.

These could all be completely innocent..but I don’t know.
Could I report them and have someone investigate? If someone wanted to investigate could they?

If anyone had some knowledge on the matter I would really appreciate it 🙂

I would have thought the Admins & Mods of this ‘Reddit’ site should be your first port of call, they might be anti-authority & pro-freedom but Im sure they wont want their name dirtied by anything truly nasty. I’ve never had to report any website myself but if I did I think I would try the Internet Watch Foundation.

As for SOPA, from what I heard it’s little more than a corporate tool for the big studio’s, music producers and software houses trying to enforce the unenforceable and maintain the monopolies of the rich.

The internet is a major puzzle to investigate, but I would say investigation (questions, answers, knowledge, the old Greek “dialectica”) is pretty much what the internet (or world wide web, which is part of the internet) is for.

Here’s the bottom line on that – you may object to web content. But, whether or not it is “unlawful” depends on the laws of the host nation where the servers supplying the information are based.

Naturally, many national governments (not just China) block access or target individuals who go to “unlawful” IP addresses.

It is worth noting that some server centres have defences that make Fort Knox look small. Not so easy to remove them yourself.

As Pat said laws vary so if the site is based in a nation where the content is not illegal or the law is not enforced they owners and site itself cant be arrested or shut down………… BUT ISPs can block specific IP addresses, and search engines can blacklist. Dont stop darksites via proxi’s but can limit exposure and make sites unprofitable.

Most sites rely on advertising so dont want nasty content, and none want to encourage the ‘Big Brother’ laws so self policing is preferable to giving governments the excuse to make new laws.

meow at it with a low pitched meow / growl. This will show you do not approve of its behaviour, and if it persists, hiss and caterwaul it…

Stick a camera on it’s head to record what it gets up to…… you can call it pussycam, post it on the net at £1 / min and see how much money and how many complaints you get lol

That’s not a cat, it’s a Fed undercover surveillance drone that LOOKS like a cat. 😉
