There are 3 species of Cannabis – Indica (meaning ‘from India’) Sativa (meaning ‘cultivated’) and Ruderalis (meaning ‘in waste places’ due to its tendency to prefer broken, rocky ground and scrubby areas between eastern European forested areas). That said, there are thousands of varieties / hybrids of Cannabis because all three species can interbreed successfully. There is some discussion about the reclassification of Afghan strains to that of C. Afghanicus due to that strain’s particular deviation from commonly held characteristics.
Ruderalis on its own doesn’t have much of the desirable THC / CBD / CBN oils that make Sativa or Indica so popular, but its trait of autoflowering has made it of interest to breeders (most especially in the northern hemisphere) due to the limited available outdoor grow period and repressive drug laws. Some hybrid Ruderalis x Indica x Sativa strains have come up viable and produce bud from the start of the plant’s life, albeit with a low-growing form, something that is being progressively bred out in order to produce taller plants with bigger bud yield while still retaining the autoflower trait.
Having a low and scrambling form makes Ruderalis easy to disguise, whilst the plants’ capacity for growth in low levels of direct sunlight make it handy for northern hemisphere conditions.

Don’t grow ruderalis. You will be sorely dissapointed. It takes just as much effort to grow it in the UK as some of the strains bred for outdoor growing but its nowhere near as potent.

If your growing outdoor stealth is the key. There is no point planting on any old grassy verge as odds are either the locals will rip it off ages before its ready or the fuzz will be alerted and wait for you to come check on it before nabbing you.

If you do want to grow outdoors this summer you will need something that will finish quickly. As Sdz mentioned lowryder is an option but its pretty shit tbh, minmum yield and low potency but it smells nice. I would suggest going for one of the Mdanzig lowryder crosses….although the seeds are hard to come by from a trustworthy seedbank.

Anyhow if you haven’t put any thought in to the site or preparing the ground I’d suggest waiting til next summer. No point spending a load of money then having your crop succumb to mould before its ready to smoke.
