Basically my computer is shit! i cant give you specs because i dont know, but i’ve got 2 meg broadband! Whenever i try to do anything the whole thing will either freeze, shut every program running down or just tell me that nothing is responding. Whenever you try to close a window ; not responding. you sign on to windows messenger ; not responding. sign into the internet ; not responding. Constantly coming up with boxes tellin me to send an error report to microsoft sayin im tryin to shut a non responsive program1 WTF??

My computer doesnt mind it here funnily enough. :you_crazy

sounds like you may have one or all of the following going on:

– spyware
-viruses
-loads of shit on your desktop [this can seriously slow a machine down esp the older ones] bin all the folders, files and non essential links of the desktop – thats what the program menus are for [go and make a new fiolder on your hard drive for crap you usually dump on your desktop 😉 your pc will love you for it]
– endless temp files on your drive
– loads of TSR [terminate and stay resident] programs hogging memory in the system
-registry degradation from installing and removing programs…

Start by downloading and running Ccleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/
in its safe [not experienced user] mode and see what comes up – its very reliable at sorting out the temp files which like to remain and hog space and may sort your problem to your satisfaction

I have similar problems 😥

Well i have found some spare hardrives in my draw so i might connect a new one in there and try a fresh instalation of everything and copy me videos, MP3’s and all important files over.

I am getting closer to my last resort! :hopeless:

essential maintainance for every month:

start-all programs- accessories- system tools

first disk cleanup, then defragmenter.

will make your computer run faster.

i got right pissed off with windows behaving like that so…. i partitioned my 80gb into 2 (75gb and 5 gb) then i re-installed windows onto the 5gb partition and told windows i wanted My documents to be on the 75Gb partition,then as you reinstall your progs install them to :D/ instead of :C/

Then next time windows fooks up you can just reinstall windows safe that you are not going to forget to back up any of your music or other docs/progs coz they are all in effect on another drive,twenty minutes later all is good as new,works for me anyway:wink:

i had that problem, try adaware. spybot, and AVG antivirus. all free . all fucking good, and then post back

I’ve now got rid of all the shit i didnt need on the desktop, down to about 5 items and given it a disk clean up. It said in the disk clean up that it got rid of loads of temp files that i think you were talkin about Raj and a load of other shit.
The computer itself does seem to be runnin better.. As for the virus/spyware i have norton anti virus and im gonna do a scan but im sure i did one not long ago.

Actually Norton itself can be a huge hogger of resources especially the all singing versions with net nannys and firewalls and system monitors and stuff built in.
Raj did mention Kapersky was a good anti-virus (not too system hungry) but its not free 🙁

I pay to use Kapersky as indicated by GD – its very good and doesnt hog resources

run adaware[lavasoft] and spybot search and destroy too- then ccleaner for registry errors raaa

well worth doing for a happier pc
