    Convergence,a 33.3 recurrence

Many Local and interstate crews who have spent the last decade organising underground art and music events amongst other things will be coming together to celebrate their 33.3 (ish) collective birthday’s. Throwing a massive free soiree in a beautifull forest venue about 1 hour north of sydney. The site has played host to many uninterrupted Convergence and Elixier partys over the past few years. The lush forest venue is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face as it has to many others.

Groups involved so far are as follows –

Liquid Sound System with Mekanarky installations and the Dog and Duck cafe, Ghetto Fabulous Crew (Melbourne), Bump, Maggotville Live Band stage, System Corrupt, DSS (Wollongong), Uber Lingua, Renegade Parade, Hijack Heavy Metal chill Sound System (with Lethal Rhythm), Ohms Not Bombs and Tribots with more to be added.

Its a total Do It Yourself production in the spirt of goodwill and
    underground party pressure.

The DJs and Live bands will span the spectrum from Psytrance, Punk Rock to Hip Hop via Dub, Techno to Gypsy sounds, Drum and Bass to Breakbeat to Electro, Garage to World Music, Trance and Mash Up.

There will be a $ 10 cd available at the festival that punters are encouraged to purchase to help fund the logistix. The disc will contain a collection of tracks from live acts performing at the festival.

So pack yer water supply, torch and bush party camping essentials and stay tuned for the comprehensive map that will be available online on the morning of Friday March 10th. Drive carefully and carpool if ya can.

    Directions to party:

    THE SITE

The site is a large beautiful site covered by a canopy of tall gum trees in Ourimbah State Forest about 15 km from Wyong.

There will be no parking or car access to the dance floor. Instead the parking area will be under power lines 300 metres from the site. There are plenty of camping areas around the parking area for people who want to camp with their cars. Closer to the site there is a nice camping area for non-car camping.

    TRANSPORT

No public transport will be provided, as since the party is free we can’t afford this. However if you have spare passenger seats available or are looking for a lift visit the forums on australiens and death by bass

The site is about 15 km from Wyong. There is a 10 km stretch of very well made dirt road to the site, which can be negotiated with ease by most vehicles. However please go slow on the dirt, both for safety reasons and to keep the dust down. Recently there has been some roadwork and the corners have loose dirt, so please take them slowly.

Whatever you do, don’t drink drive or drive while sleepy. Bring your camping gear and sleep before driving home.

    DO

    1. BRING CAMPING GEAR
    2. BRING FILM CANISTERS FOR CIGARETTE BUTTS
    3. BRING FRIENDS (AND MAKE SOME MORE)
    4. BRING YOUR ENERGY AND GOOD VIBES
    5. HEED OUR FEW SIGNS TO MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR EVERYBODY.
    7. TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME.
    8. SLEEP BEFORE DRIVING HOME.
    9. GIVE GENEROUSLY. WE NEED FUNDS AND YOUR ENERGY TO DO THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN.
    10. BECOME ONE OF THE ELIXIR CREW BY OFFERING YOUR HELP BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE PARTY. ELIXIR IS NOT JUST US. IT’S YOU TOO.
11.THERE IS NO WATER ON SITE SO MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR SUPPLY FOR THE EVENT

    DON’T

    1. ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPFIRES.
    2. DO NOT LEAVE CANDLES ETC UNATTENDED.
    2. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS. THERE ARE POISON BAITS IN THIS AREA.
    3. DO NOT BRING GLASS BOTTLES ETC.
    4. DO NOT LITTER.
    5. DON’T DRINK DRIVE.
    6. DON’T DRIVE IF TIRED. GET SOME SLEEP FIRST.
    7. DO NOT BLOCK THE ROAD. WE NEED EMERGENCY ACCESS.
    8. DO NOT BRING ILLIGAL SUBSTANCES

Using the bush for our recreation is a privilege not a right and there are many forces who would deny us that privilege. We try to take maximum care of You & Our Environment

Selecting sites which are less susceptible to environmental damage.

  • Selecting sites with adequate parking.
  • OBSERVING ALL FIRE RESTRICTIONS WHICH ARE LIKELY TO THE HIGH ON THE WEEKEND
  • Providing rubbish bins and ashtrays.
[*]Removing ALL rubbish and waste. A good party is everyone’s responsibility. As organisers, no matter how much effort we put in, we need good people to make it a good party.

Start by remembering that you are going to be spending 12 to 24 hours in the Australian bush and come prepared. Bring: food, water, torch, sunscreen, insect repellant, sun hat, something to sit on, garbage bags, etc…

You can also help by taking responsibility for your own garbage, please bring a garbage bag and USE IT.

When you leave, look around the area where you were siting and where you were parked. Please pick up everything including cigarette butts and small stuff.

  • Drive safely and carefully.
  • Park with consideration for others and always leave access roads open.
  • Observe any fire restrictions and don’t light unnecessary fires.
  • If toilets are not provided, bury your waste.
[*]Above all, please be considerate of each other and our land. So now your ready for the ROAD DIRECTIONS

The party is located in Ourimbah State Forest near Wyong. It is the same site used for Elixir 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Convergence. To get there head to Newcastle from Sydney via the Sydney/Newcastle Freeway.

Here are our painstakingly precise directions:

    Head north on Sydney-Newcastle freeway

As you turn onto the Sydney/Newcastle Freeway at Wahroonga set your tachometer to zero

At 59 km – You will pass the ‘Ourimbah/Palmdale’ exit. Continue along the freeway, the turn-off you need to take is close.

At 63 km – Take the ‘Wyong’ exit (ie: leave the freeway). Go LEFT at the top of the exit ramp, towards ‘Yarramalong’.

As you turn off the Sydney/Newcastle Freeway at Wyong set your tachometer again to zero

At 4 km – You will hit a T-intersection. Turn LEFT towards ‘Yarramalong/Kulnara’

At 6 km – SLOW DOWN! You are about to go over a small hill and the turn-off is just over it and easily missed. Turn LEFT at the dirt road turn-off with a small wooden, green sign saying ‘Red Hill Rd’. If you pass the ‘80km/h’ sign after the small hill, you’ve missed the turn-off. Then keep going along Red Hill Rd. This is a dirt road so DRIVE SLOWLY & CAREFULLY as people will be driving the opposite direction, and we need to keep the dust down.

Go straight past ‘Scaddens Ridge Rd’ on you left, DO NOT TURN HERE.

At 11 km – Turn RIGHT at the Y-junction, following ‘Red Hill Rd’. DO NOT turn left onto ‘Middle Ridge Rd’.

At 15 km – Turn LEFT along ‘Prestons Ridge Rd’. You will be leaving ‘Red Hill Rd’.

At 16 km – Turn LEFT before the huge power pylon & park considerately so that emergency road access is maintained. This is the camping area for those who want to camp with their vehicles.

Walk the last few hundred metres down the road to the Elixir party site

    • There is only one direction left. ENJOY! J
