  • My girlfriend dislocated her knee cooking dinner last night is was fucking grose man. I was listening to KHz’s show and talking in the chat when I heard her propper shout “AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH” I popped it back into place and she tried standing up and I saw it go POP again and she went crashing down to the floor. So I had to call an ambulance and go off to A and E : (

It was bloody awull in there. It was really busy and then amount of people in with alcohol related shit clogging up the waiting time. We were there over six hours man. The staff (god bless them) wern’t very helpfull really. She rally needed a wee and she hadn’t been given a cubical (infact we never got a cubical) but we kept asking saying she was desperate and they were like “someones comming” she couldn’t walk obviously and they hadn’t even given her any support like a brace to help her. Well anyway in the end they put is in the theatre for a minute to do the “work” so we were ok for ten mins. But then maxine decided she needed a wee again so we went through the whole thing again.

Anyway when the consultant finaly got round to us he said she would need it x-ray’d which was pretty obvious. They could have just stuck us straight in the x-ray waiting area from the start. ( I think they should hav let me be her doctor) So after the x-ray we were stuc back at the end of the A and E ward in the walkway where they store people on stretchers and waited about an hor for the consultant to come bact to us to finaly say they she needs a straight brace on the leg. I don’t know why they couldn’t have just given us one to begin with. That way she could hav used the toilets and gone for a smoke easy. tbh I got a really rude vibe off allot of the nurses there. It was bad cos obviously I was looking for who was ment to be caring for my GF but everyone I asked was like “i don’t work here i’ll let the sister know” but nothing would get done. Some of the nurses were ok and stopped o talk and ask if eberything was ok but nothing really got done. When the consultant asked her if she needed a painkiller he completelly forgot about it and we never saw these painkillers.

This guy who was in for alcohol started to talk to me at one point and he asked me how long I had been here cos he had been there over an hour and was starting to get moody about it. I said to him I had been there for 3 hours and he started going on about how bad the NHS is and how it never used to be tus way. He was blaming all the cuts and shit. By then I had had enough of his dumb ramblings and said “I think the main reason the NHS is in such is because of drunks clogging up the waiting times” I felt a bit bad for it but I was pretty pissed of at that point cos they hadn’t given us a cubical but they had giveen one to this other drunk tramp who was asleep on a gurney since we got there. Then at about midnight I heard him get up start swearing “where the fuck am I” and came walking out asking people where the toilet was. he was litteraly walking towards me and Maxine to ask us and the security guard stopped him. This was a good thing cos i was just waiting for him to speak to me and I was planning on venting some steam out on him too. I think the guard could tell that I was gonna have a go at him cos I think he saw me giving him a dirty look. Also the guard looked at me as he was talking to this drunk bloke. Anyway he took him to the toilet and waited for him to come out. As he came out he said to the drunk “what you looking for… the way out??” and the drunk replied “I wan’t someone to push me in a wheelchair and phone me a taxi” I was getting more and more angry with this fella but the guard just told him that he wasn’t getting a wheelchair (although at this point he was still technically under the hospitals care) but it seemed like the guard what using a jedi mind trick to get him to leave. But thats what set me off when the other drunk guy started moaning about waiting times.

As I was leaving I had to pick up a letter fro reception and she made an announcement to the people waiting. She said that if you have a minor injury its going to be over six hour wait from the time you arrive just to be seen. Then obviously you would have to wait for all sorts like x-rays and shit. The NHS has been obliterated in my books. Oh yeah and one they gave us the brace that was it the sent us off with no patient after care. I spoze not all hospitall are like thind . Wel I hope not.

Fuck dude, she ok now? I know how painful it is to dislocated a limb. My shoulder dislocates a lot, and the cartilage in my knee is on the way out. Bloody hell…..

The change of govt certainly hasn’t helped – waiting time at ED for minors was 4 hour target and this was at a London ED what takes in all the stabbings and gunshot casualties as well.

thankfully I’ve not required emergency healthcare in this region but I know of the times from work and whilst its marginally better in my area there’s a good reason for it – all our nighttime venues have 100% zero tolerance policy on both drugs and argumentative drunks. Unless they are dying, drunks what cause trouble are immediately told to get out of town and if they disagree they get taken to the Police station rather than hospital.

Except the custody suite is not in town any more, its in a place called Martlesham which is about 6 miles out of town. Unless prisoners are little kids they have to make their own way back after being processed, buses aren’t that regular, a drunk driver would have had their car seized (and kept elsewhere). The distance is walkable by a fit person (even a drinker) but its a long haul. if a criminal so much as dares to try and commit a further crime to cover the cost of travelling home or out of spite they are nicked again and go through the same process.

This has been going on for years even before the government changed, it started just before I moved here in 2006. Also when venues get known for too many incidents they lose their license way quicker than in Brighton or similar areas and the cops only give it back when the management have either been retrained or sacked by the property owners.

OK nightlife isn’t as much “fun” but things have genuinely got better and most people behave in town when they are Ipswich. There’s still a few idiots but they are picked off and their numbers whittled down. Ironically a lot of the ideas the cops picked up on came from Holland…

She’s okay ish now but living is a nightmare. I have to do everything man. Not only that I need to assist her with EVERYTHING not a nice time really. I know I should be fine with this but I can hardly look after myself really. I can’t leave her on her own. It’s a proper nightmare. So unfortunaltly it’s hit us both pretty hard. Also I don’t think bum club and the job centre are gonna be sympathetic to my cause since i’m ment to be actively jobseaking and pinnacle people.

So with that being that i’m not sure if i’m gonna be able to go to UM fest in september unless i’m lucky. But thats the least of my worries really. Like what if I have another phantom withdrawal episode. That will really fuck things up man.

Oh well wsh me luck guys i’m gonna need it. I really hope it doesn’t get me all depressed and shit. Then I will have to rely on PV good vibes for a living. : )
