who thinks out there, just outta curiousity, thinks the age in the uk (16) for consential or whatever the word is sex should change?
not that im gunna make it change but theres some teens out there (im one myself lol a teen(14) not a teen that thinks it should change!) that think if the person they are with they love and want to sleep with but dont want to break the law, think its unfair:yawn::groucho:
age of consent is there for protection from predatory types
It doenst matter about the age from a teens point of view, but for 45 year old wierd’os that fancy 16 year old girls (or even boys) it would probably for the best!
I think age 16 is a reasonable age and it should stay at that age…
Also today there are now also a lot of sexual predators who are much younger – including angry young lads who have only just reached puberty, but either do not know how to control their urges or are not prepared to do so. Much of the media and particularly the nastier forms of porn which can be found on the net makes the problem worse. There is too much media about which encourages lads to treat girls as subservient objects and even to use force against them.
As far as I am concerned any lad who forces a girl to do something she doesn’t want to (even if he is only 11 or 12) is a sexual predator and should be dealt with appropriately… including by the criminal justice system and the mental health service if the situation is serious enough – and if they attack someone they should be detained.
My mum used to be a teacher for middle school ages and some of her female pupils (age 9-13) would mention to her some really harsh stories of harrasment.
IMO It takes a fair bit of time for peoples emotions to develop to a point where they can treat someone properly within an intimate relationship and respect their feelings and it is usually only in the late teens to the 20s where this happens..
when the “45 year old wierdos” are nicked its very often found they were commiting the same crimes when they were young – but often they just got away with it for many years because its only fairly recently that society has been prepared to deal with this problem.
Most of these people are found to actually only have the mental age of a much younger person despite an increased physical age, and a lack of respect for others feelings; they often go for younger people because they feel they can dominate and control them.
i can’t find the link right now, but the results of a recent study have shown that before the age of about 25 the human brain isn’t sufficently developed to consider other people’s feelings thoroughly
no way that would do loads of bad…its bad enough the age it is it should be 21…an you should have to have a test to see if you can have a baby ….hehee!
I think it should stay the same age, but they should give better sex education in schools, past the basic “uhh.. use contraception, yeah?” mentality that is enforced on many students. My high school gave us like one lesson on contraception?
Children today aren’t taught much about it, just what to do afterwards like get a morning after pill and such, they’re not educated enough about it so most people rush in to it- sometimes ‘cos of peer pressure too..
….Yeah…
You dont use morning after pill :you_crazy :you_crazy
I know young people are afraid of the possibility of getting pregnant..
But hey..How about AIDS,herpes,gonorrhea ????????
You use condom…ALWAYS
I said what to do afterwards
Like, in case you need the morning after pill if you didnt use a condom?
Thats what i meant
I think it depends on what school you went to .
I went to state junior and high schools, but I also attended two private schools, one Catholic school in juniors and a prep school from age 11-13.
The state schools had fairly good sex education (including a detailed discussion of contraception methods aimed at both genders) but it was non-existent in prep school and in the Catholic school it comprised the genders being seperated and sent to opposite ends of the school, whilst a nun ranted on to the boys about how sinful it is to do certain things before you are married and Hell awaits for all who do so (TBH the whole thing was hilarious and was like something out of a Father Ted episode, I had to stop myself laughing and getting in trouble).
in a nutshelll yeah!
I went to a C of E state school
It seemed that once we were taught the basic random info at primary school & the one or two classes when we were about 14- that was it
😐
I know what you mean..
But nobody should forget to use a condom..
People risk ruining their life for 1 nights fun..
Thats crazy..
