hi everyone!
me and my girlfriend are going to dorset for a few days at the weekend for a much needed break
i was wondering if any of you fine people knew of anything good to do around that area.
not especially anything to do with partying/clubbing, although that would be helpful, but if anyone knows of any good places to go for the day or anything interesting to do.
any help would be much appreciated.
thank you
charlie
Hello there,
In sunny Dorset, you have loads to do. You could go to Monkey World (head to Wareham then follow signs to Monkey World, it’s near Wool and will be on most maps). It’s about £9.00 entry but it’s worth it as a one off.
Or you could go for a walk at Kimmeridge, Lulworth or Durlston, again all on maps. That would be more for scenery though.
I’ll try and think of more and reply again. I’m off out now.
i went to monkey world earlier in the year.
it would depend on how much you’d be wanting to spend tbh. one of my favorite days out actually costs nothing. go to durdle door, sit on the beach. then walk along the beach (and up a small hill bit) to lulworth, have lunch and an icecream, walk along the clifftop back to durdle door. tis nice to lie in the long grass and be all romantic too.
its not hard to find stuff to do, theres hundreds of flyers in every attraction
I live in Wareham, Dorset.
Corfe Castle, Blue Pool, Swanage, Studland, Sandbanks, Maiden Castle (Dorchester), Durdle Door, Lulworth, Stair Hole, The Purbecks, Tyneham Village, Weymouth, Preston (lush walks around there), Hardy’s Monument (Views = 10 miles + ), Toldpuddle, Portland/Portland Bill, Abbotsbury (St Catherine’s Chapel – Again, lovely views), Golden Cap (Highest point in Dorset, AMAZING views), Seatown (lovely little beachside place).
There is loads to do around here, too busy at work at the moment, but I`ll find some more things for you and post them 🙂
wow thanks guys
i’m going to have to get my map out and make a little plan.
the beach sounds like a good idea, even if the weathers not too great i still like pissing about in the sand.
does anyone know what the nightlife’s like round there?
its not really what i’m going for but you never know.
i would recommend a walk heading east from Durdledoor

or some real ale in the pub in symondsbury for a flavour of typical, rural Dorset
enjoy:bigsmile:

i can see me on the beach there
Depends what your after, can you be a little more specific ?
Bournemouth has an alright nightlife.
(opera house @ boscombe has some ok nights now and then – depends what your after)
Poole is fairly bollocks, although its nice sat down on the quay in the evening and there is a pub down there that has live music (not cheese!).
Weymouth town centre at night can be a laugh but there are alot on nobs there, some alright little pubs though.
Wareham has some nice pubs, but is quite quiet and quaint(ish).
Dorchester is shit, loads of pubs, loads of wankers and not a that great laugh
(I go there to see mates/family mainly)
the place on that picture looks really nice, might have to check that out. the caravan site we’re staying on has got a park with an enormous trampoline in it. so if i get my way we’ll be spending the whole time playing on that, somehow i think my girlfriend might have different plans, women eh.

well i was really looking to go somewhere pretty friendly, possibly with some good music. by that i mean not r&b or anything you might hear in yates wine lodge. wareham sounds nice.
thanks for all the help guys, that’s very nice of you.
how old are you?
30
and i still can’t afford / have space for an olympic trampoline
i went to the biggest nature reserve in Europe last summer, on the look out for the last surviving european bison (i didn’t get to see them, but i saw their poo)
feeling a little disheartened, i was seriously cheered up to find a tramploine in the vistor centre

lulworth and durdledoor are defo worth a visit and if your up for a walk, you can get maps from the visitors centre to follow or just have a wander, beautiful beautiful views. You can also go out on a boat for a short ride from the cove and see the scenery from another perspective.
I’ve a painted stone on my windowsil from a guy who was selling his work here a few years ago that is brilliant and brings me smiles at remembering my weekend here
i’m 27, i suppose that is a bit old to be playing around on parks. trampolines are a right laugh tho everyone’s got to enjoy bouncing around, i’m too big to bounce on my bed now so its really the only chance i get.
