  • For the past few weeks we have been going to some parties around the welsh harp and off scrubs lane in Harlesden. I have been going to parties in this area put on by various systems for the last 3 years or so. About a month ago or so these group of young guys aged about 14-18 were actively looking for people who were trashed and not able to look after themselves chasing them down the canal beating them up and mugging them.

This has happened week after week, on every occasion there has been an escalation of violence, With more of this horrid group of people turning up.

This Saturday, i thought right will give it one more chance. I was told my one of the organisers that they had been given a hiding and they doubted they would turn up again. They did only this time they were tooled up and had serious violence in mind. They bottled at least 3 people and threw a few of them into the grand union canal. I took this bloke to the hospital at 5:30am Sunday.

I have been so upset all sunday and felt i needed to post a comment on here to see what other peoples opinions are.

I love the freedom that we get at these sort of parties but the scum who occasionally turn up are ruining it for everyone else. Its such a shame as these raves are just down the road from where i live and nearly all the people who turn up are LOVELY. Giving out there drugs and being really helpful and kind. The help that everyone gave to the people who were assaulted really touched me including giving away there dry clothes to people who got thrown in the canal. Its just such a shame i feel i can never go back there again!

I have been to SO MANY FREE parties and i used to be able to tell all my friends that i had never or very rarely seen any sort of violence this has all changed and it makes me really sad. 🙁

      Hi there:groucho: :groucho: :groucho:

      Welcome to Partyviberaaa

good of you to join us 🙂

i was recently involved in a incident like this there was even a canal although i dnt think anyone ended up init,

i think what needs to happen is as soon as some voilence/mugging & general nastyness goes on, u need to go straight to the rig, give a shout out for all the blokes to get together chase the offenders off site (an give em a bit of a kickin if u can) if this happens the first time they try anything they wont come back, or they’ll think twice about it

its when they find nothing will happen, as long as their not too close to the rig they then they can get away with it,

or do it london ways an get a security crew on the gate turnin away rudes

mmmmmmmmmmmm true story , this weekend they were all ready for them and they still managed to hang about near by and mugg a few of them b4 a search party was sent out.

      hi brightbeing! welcome to partyvibe.

Sorry to hear about this; it sadly has been getting worse and worseover the last 5 years in London, although it was starting about 10 years ago,..

I am originally a Londoner (born in Lewisham) but I am quite glad now I no longer live there.

I often think the place has become “Londonistan”; not in the racist sense but just that you might as well be living in a war zone; where there are angry young men (of all races and cultures) all trying to be “warlords”, fighting over territory etc – the desire in these people to fight and hurt others is so strong and the threat of HMP or even death does not seem to deter them.

A lot of people though now expect this at London free parties; which has changed the atmosphere as although as you say there are loads of safe people, you just cannot risk letting your guard down for a few seconds so people arent as friendly as they used to be.

There are still good events in London though but the crews who do them have to keep moving around to avoid hassle with the local gangs and its a bit of a lottery as to whether you get a good party or not.

I think a lot of crews are now moving back to licensed venues because of this as at least they can have security and if the worst comes to the worst the conventional authorities can deal with it; its a shame though as it makes it look like the social experiment of these free party spaces is failing.

Fair play to you and your friends for looking after the casualties though. I know how you feel about it as London warehouse parties were indeed so much more fun..

me an u are from the same neck of the woods GL, im originaly lewisham born & raised aswel

was this party @ tottenham marshes??

I am just gutted about it. I spent all of sunday feeling really miserable (not just the come down) about what had gone on. You should have seen this guy I took to hospital a really nice french bloke. He didnt deserve this. Blood pouring down his face shivering and in total shock about what had happened.

You said it, i spent all evening on my gaurd and looking round checking my friends were ok. It looks like we will have to get out of London for some decent raves. If you need a car to get there it keeps a lot of the nastys away……………..

Just so upset by what i saw

if its any help i think its despicable too:rant:

and you are quite right to have a rant about it:annoyed:

I saw this happen at a party near Luton once which was put on by a crew who were mourning a friend of theirs dad’s death and they put on a monster party with 3 rigs and charged £3 to everyone and some rudes came with knives and tried to jack someones car so we reported it to the rig and as we did the rudes walked into the warehouse and they jus shouted “that’s them” and every man in the room jus started running at the rudes.
I jus thought that might restore your faith in human nature as you sound very shocked.
Absolutely awful though these people need to acquire some morals

This is definatly unwanted shizzle at partys and will make some people not attend to certain places or raves again. I have never seen anything like this yet but i bet its bound to happen soon. Ravers need to keep sticking together to keep these tossers from trying to fuk up our fun

for sure it’s shit when this happens and everyone i know who goes partying doesn’r go for this kind of experience

if you sniff any problems, go straight to the rig and tell them, if they aren’t going to deal with it in a reasonable way, look for other free party crews that keep their shit together

that’s easier to say, coming from Devon and not London, but I’ve been at parties where gangsters have turned up with a shotgun and robbed the rig, geny and records, so i’m in not green

it was a long time ago though… parties need to be by invitation onoly and if there’s no sense of community, stop supporting that rig & crew

the problem with London is that the scum who do the muggings are actually prepared to fight any security – they are occasionally driven out (as has happened in the provinces) but even if they lose they regroup, or will at least try and “go down fighting” and get a few punches in (if prevented from openly carrying weapons, they will try to use their bodies or improvised weapons such as bottles).

Also London party security (with the exception of certain crews) are often more “revenue collectors” who enforce the door tax; they do keep out the worst of the scum but they may stand down once they have been paid.

The locals wait for this and then move in.

there is a long-standing street culture of gangs fighting in London which predates the rave scene for many years – and any part of London can be dodgy for street robberies.

I don’t know though why raves have been targeted more in recent years as TBH until about 2001 it wasn’t a serious problem; maybe its because cops and CCTV have become more effective elsewhere.

I can’t help but think about the negative effect of certain scenes like grime where aggressive lyrics and fighting are seen as part of the scene..

I have still been to decent parties in London last winter but they are put on by crews who discourage any public/on-line discussion of their events or venues for this reason; you are dealing with an enemy with time on its hands, local knowledge and hate in their hearts.

Its difficult as the crews are are essentially trying to succeed where Scotland Yard and Red Ken have failed..

Raves outside London have less problems with robberies but fights due to local disputes between people who know one another or jealousy over girls can occasionally happen.
