no, not a political rant but an investigation into animal behaviour..
Most humans wake up at different times in the morning (depending on what their other responsibilities are); any time from 07:00 to 14:00 IME..
Cats are usually awake by 05:00; and often use a variety of strategies to wake the first human in the house to obtain food (anything from mewing to barging open closed doors /jumping on beds/tables/knocking things over/ ripping out communications cables from wall boxes)
Usually this is someone in full time employment/education who feeds the cat and leaves fairly. early
The cat(s) then consume the food in their bowls; wait for the later rising members of the household to appear (or wake them up); and obtain further supplies of food.
This they repeat until the humans eventually realise the cat food supply is being exhausted even quicker than normal/ and/or the cats are growing considerably in girth (sometimes it even takes the vet to point this out!)
Anyone else noticed this?
One of my old cats was so fat as he just slept on a cushion next to his bowl of food…and ate that and the other cats food every morning.
yes i have seen this moggie tactic in action and it is very funny, especially if the second human is oblivious to the fact they have been fed…
i think the record was getting fed 4 times before a chart was implemented to prevent repetition…still you have to admire the wideness of the felines involved:horay::horay::horay:
Yes.
My fat cat ”Olly” (was Molly ’til we disovered he had a set of nuts :surprised) gets fed by my missus at 6.30, then tries to tap me up at 7.00am for more.
He also tries the reverse in the evening as she gets in 1/2 hour after me.
The little b’strd also gets fed somewhere else during the day, but I’m yet to find out where or by whom…..:you_smart

we had that prob and put a collar on the cat saying please dont feed me i am overweight…needless to say the cat managed to hang it on a branch at the top of a tree in the garden
*sigh*
LOL –
most cats learn how to get rid of collars by deliberately snagging the collar on a solid object and slipping out of it due to the safety elastic
at least it got some exercise doing this I suppose..
it would be equivalent to a fat human getting rid of a diet book by scaling a tower block roof!
when my cat died years ago (henry will never be replaced), about four different houses came round to find out what happened, theyd read his address on the collar and noticed that he wasnt around, and came over. they all had different names for him, and all were feeding him (one of them even had got him a personalised bowl!). he was one smooth cat.

RATFLMAO:lol_big::lol_big::lol_big::lol_big:
at a certain shared house in Reading I needed to use the loo; and as I opened the bathroom door I saw what appeared to be a dark coloured towel or a large fake fur hat which to had fallen into the bath.
On attempting to retrieve it; it turned out to be a huge tom-cat; which was sleeping in there and occasionally lapping up drips of water from the tap (it was quite a hot summer).
I asked whose pet it was; apparently it was just a random cat which wanders in from the streets – yet it was also being fed in this house..
Even more amusing was later on watching the cat sat on the sofa and some hippies sat on the floor; as they were frightened to coax it off the sofa so they could sit down for fear of being scratched (in fact for its size it was a very friendly and docile cat).
i used to have a lovely cat the size of a large jack russell terrier who folk were scared stiff of
one day he went on a mission and raided the local for crisps; i found out when i got a call from the landlord asking me to remove my cat from thier shed as they were all terrified of him and didnt dare.
i went in and called him, and he performed his party trick of leaping into my arms and hugging me and as he did so several people jumped back and shrieked….
we laughed:crazy_fre:crazy_fre
hahaha soo true, ive got 8 cats and they’ll all make a huge effort to wake him at about 6ish then 1/2hr later theyll do it to me and if theyre feeling lucky they’ll try everyone else at about 9-10ish tis very funny
They’ll all do anything to get what they want, one called Q will make a massive fuss to get some milk and he’ll keep doing it untill everyone has given him some.. and another once called the police with the help of my dog when no one was home in the morning :surprised the dog pulled the um ear thingy off and the cat called 999… who called back later to ask if there was an actuall problem! and thats not half of some of the mad things they end up doing… right trouble makers mhmm they’re all far to intelligent if you ask me!!! :crazy_fre
hehe my dad will have to see this convo.
my evil fiends used to include a cat who went bearserk when anybody came in with bacon or curry of any description
the plot was:
cat smells desired food
cat identifies encumbered human
cat teleports onto lap/ shoulder/ available surface on human and grabs their hand with her claws
cat refuses to let go until awarded an appropiate amount of desired food
it was fun letting the unsuspecting folks in to be subject to this trick; much laughter from all viewers…:crazy_fre:crazy_fre
yeah our cats do this regularly, one usually comes and cuddles up to me and sticks his wet nose in my face constantly till im up and feeding him or letting him out! this morning it worked and i was up at 5am to feed them, then when i woke up from going back to bed i found out my folks had fed them again when they had got up at , and then got fed by another memebr of the family at 9! greedy things! no tea for them tonight!
Lol at all the fat cat stories.
My cat does the same…although less successfully now as I only live with my b/f and he’s alergic to her, so therefore doesn’t feed her.
In my last house however it was a different story – 5 people, 1 house, all getting up (and back home) at different times of day (about 30 – 45 minute intervals) and the cat blagging each person for food each time! Luckily we noticed quite quickly and a note system was implemented, didn’t stop her trying though.
