I used to work in the TV industry and since the mid 90s (and the boom in activists and random jokers doing stunts like this) the crews are well aware to the possibility of this sort of joke.
In Britain at least a lot of reporters when doing live broadcasts actually position themselves in such a way that there is a wall behind them and create physical “barriers” such as the “scanner truck” (outside broadcast vehicle), and the cables etc being positioned so it is very difficult for someone unwanted to get in shot.
(Also, if its a controversial subject they need to protect the reporters safety.)
