  • I would like to know of any parties around the bristol area too

A friend of mine somehow told me about free beer parties in Birmingham. Has anyone heard about it?

Birmingham England or Birmingham Alabama USA? (This site is international, so its worth avoiding any confusion…)

That said its not that unusual for real ale or craft brewers to give out small amounts of free beer to those who are of appropriate age at places like beer festivals etc or sell it at quite low prices, and 100% legal provided the space is properly licensed. Although I live hundreds of km from either place and if I was going to all that effort for beer I’d go to the Oktoberfest 😉

and it seems even beer is restricted there!

Alabama is known for it’s backward beer laws. Until 2009, beer could not have more than a 6% alcohol volume and it was not until May 16, 2012 that beer could be purchased in containers bigger than 16 ounces. Home brewing is still technically illegal in the state and there are various restrictions on limiting the availability of Brew Pubs.

Impressed that these folk even exist, they are trying to improve beer and even get folk to play real football :laugh_at:

Incidentally the Oktoberfest I was referring to would be the actual German one, as they are also holding an Oktoberfest in Birmingham England!

A lot of folks in the American South like ‘soccer’ in addition to American Football its not just bourgeois folks in population centers on the coasts, Southerners respect good sport competition and are fanatical about their team, with some of the major world clubs having large swaths of american followers. I had a high school Physics teacher who was into Michigan Football (most wins in college football history) and Fulham FC… Go fucking figure, right? I remember the year when I was in his class Fulham avoided relegation and he was ecstatic.
