I think they’ve been around since the late 90s; we’ve relayed some of their stuff as well; in recent times even the British media have been using them as a link source (even though the bulk of our MDMA is from NL) as due to funding cuts, austerity and rising nationalism in Europe Trimbos have not been automatically translating every article into English

Added to which during the late 90s/2000s many British harm reduction / “peer support” organisations with a predominantly young membership seemed to fall down the rabbit hole of campaigning for commercial markets for cannabis, forgot about all the other drugs folk were consuming (including ketamine and NPS) and left it to the NHS, public sector and even more established organisations run by faith groups to pick up the pieces.

to be fair there is good harm reduction available in English and every other European language; it does unfortunately seem that many users simply refuse to read “long form” content (maybe due to increasing use of mobile phones and other small screen devices) or genuinely do not know how to get at it outside of websites that are increasingly full with ads and other distractions. I’m hoping it isn’t a genuine decline in reading/comprehension skills amongst younger people….

I think it is a decrease in recreational readers. If it isn’t school or work people may not read it, although a bad pill alert or helpful info on MDMA seems like something people would want to read.

TBH I had noticed in the last 10 years that even younger people whom I would consider to be intelligent increasingly do not read anything for pleasure and those who do (especially on alternative circles) tend to increasingly stay away from drugs and the associated culture although they are 100% supportive of harm reduction and support networks.

From reading “youth” sites in Dutch, French and sometimes German aimed at hedonists (although Germany has stronger control laws about youth media than many might realise so these are less common) I don’t think this is confined to the Anglosphere either – although the mainland EU harm reduction organisations are producing quite decent smartphone apps with early warning info and other useful advice; though whether young people will want to download them is another matter

I just downloaded the BE one and it is good but where the ads would be there are links to the health service and govt agencies – I think I am a bit old for the Trimbos app “Party friends EU” and it also seems to very subtly nudge users into signing in with their social network details. to be fair Trimbos are not going to do anything sketchy with the data they gather and their harm reduction info is good but they are not the “coolest” of “brands” in NL; their content is written in a similar way to info I got given at high school except its less judgmental and more accurate…
