  • They’ll come up with much better explanations on other sites but frankly this is a stumper

my thoughts was something between dopamine in the limbic system and NMDA in the frontal lobe getting crosswired and failing to tell this poor fellow that he’s drunk

And your answer is far better than mine.

still an incomplete explanation but at least the pieces fit together a little bit in regards to serotonin and norepineprine but tramadol doesn’t have any dopamine actions so its only half a theory..

another possible explanation is that opiods and alcohol both numb you so your brain takes the alcohol and is like “no no not that type of numbing”, although I don’t have an explanation of exactly how that would occur.

honestly taking this to bluelight or drugforums is probably the best route, unless RAD chimes in I think we’re out of explanations and explainers.

Would maybe be more likely if he were still on the tramadol but permanent and extensive brain change? Honestly idk

neuroplasticity is real and I’m a big believer but yeah it does seem to be a stretch

Yeah I know i’m argueing prety strongly against it but I’m not saying it definitely isn’t oreven could absolutely the cause, just that if it is it is so rare as to be almost a complete genetic fluke that maybe one in a billion might have.

thank you guys for your thoughts. i got this comment on a different forum, it seems like a good explanation.

“Alcohol requires mu-opioid receptor for rewarding effects (through endogenous opiates). You’ve hit the mu pretty hard with tramadol, and therefore you in fact have tolerance – not to alcohol per se but to anything that works through opiates. What happens is desensitization in the reward centers (nacc, vp). The effects should eventually mostly return when in absence though, but it may take time. You are not screwed for life… Patience.. and you’ll recover and enjoy your beer again”

    thoughts?

Hey bud, what is written certainly sounds like it’s been written by someone who knows their stuff and would explain what you feel. Really appreciate you getting back with that and sharing. I kight look intyo this a bit later if I get chance and will post if I see anything of interest.

that would be cool man. yeah he seems to know alot. he actually had a similar problem, he took Phenibut for 6 months and it temporarily ruined alcohol for him, but with time the effects returned. i guess the brain really just needs time to heal? im sure everyone is different, i just keep praying ill be ok, i miss my beer

I feel a bit of a tard for not linking alcohol and the opiod receptors, lol, tried to create a more complicated explanation than what actually existed, i blame it on requiem

thanks for your input, so do you agree with what was said? i think it seems pretty realistic, it explains the not feeling a buzz

yeah definitely a good explanation, my advice is abstain from alcohol for a good while, any time you drink before your brain gets back close to normal would be a small setback

alright, i’ll take that advice. thanks alot man, you and Requiem didnt have to reply and give me advice, but you did and i appreciate it
