and i am always struck how those at the top of the religious heirarchy are required to forego far less in the way of earthly pleasures and vices than those at the bottom [whose selfdenial allows donations to the religious organization of their choice and enables the indulgence of those at the top]

Maybe a Catholic thing. In Poland, even the catholic preists are on equivalent pay to our doctors and also (AFAIK) dont lack on the vices side either!

For me, heaven or hell are, as said what surround us when we’re here and also what we leave when we’re gone, in peoples heads. Im maybe cynical thinking that IS life after death.

    agreed

latest reports suggest the old testament was written by queen nefititi (or someone from her court) who were all experimenting with monotheism at the time and was nicked by moses. who went on to found Judaism (this is what Christianity and Islam are both based on). As for getting to heaven you can’t, when your heart stops beating, blood stops flowing to your brain and it ceases to function, so even if you could ‘get’ to heaven (anyone seen a dead body move much? thought not.) you would have no way of experiencing it.

and reincarnation? as i recently said to a Sikh friend, that’s “just silly”. whoops!

my mans post seriously backfired on him!
    funny shit!:laugh_at:
beliefes are a tricky thing. i noticed when i started to get really into buddhism i very nearly became preachy.
mr unregistered is probaly new to it and finds a lot of truth in it.
    no doubt he/she meant well.
just came cross like a flamin’ loony zealot nutjob!
    bless em!
    (probs an cid casualty:you_crazy )

    where is this heaven?!
maybe it was in someone’s fucked up head and now we all want to go there …

…and don’t answer me Amsterdam :weee:

personal beliefs i dont have a problem with, as long as they don’t try and force their opinions on me. organised religion can fuck off, does so much harm and very little good, it’s corrupt and fucked up from top to bottom.

who needs something to believe in,when u can believe in yourself………
we are all made of atoms and fings if you are berried a strange mysticle tree culd find nutrishon in yoar body and in a way you wud live on…………

how about you leave what people believe in alone. you have opinions and believes, others have theres. please do not spit on what others need to get through the week, do not call them ”bible bashers” or whatever it is completly uncalled for, i respect your believes now you respect mine. if you do not you are only as bad as the ones firing weapons in my creators name.

in your hour of need, maybe years from now, you will ask for one person and thatll be god.

I come from a very religious family where i have had being Catholic rammed down my throat till it comes out of my arse for years. Well when we moved away from the rest of the family i now live in a house of no religion.

The the thing that puts me off following any religion is that there is not enough scientific evidence, where as all that i have been taught and read about in the way of science conflicts with religion. It gets that bad that i remember visiting family in blackpool and the local Catholic church used to always have a banner out side, it changed ever so often a couple stuck in my head:

“God created the world, we did not evolve into humans. There went dinosours” <- i mean come on thats a bit nutty

“do not watch planet of the apes as it suggests we evloved from monkeys and we did not! we are gods creation” <- :you_crazy

“one about buffy being evil because of the vampires… cant remember the actual quote of this one”.

There are probably faults in other religions that re as bad, i just dont know enough about these to comment and it would be unfair for me to make uneducated views on these religions.

    Well thats my two pence.

P.S there is not a heaven, well if there is look for the bloody huge stanna stair lift to get all the oldies up there… cant expect the to walk! Also i dont think its in a beam of light as i aint ever seen people floating up in this way….. :laugh_at:

    dear mr unregister3d,

RE: ‘I can’t explain everything, so I will leave you with two good Bible-Based websites to visit if you have internet access . . . ‘

thankyou kindly for your concern, I would take you up on your offer of enlightenment but unfortunately I don’t have access to the web, whats a girl gonna do?

    yours sincerely

If your interested in finding good things mate and things that arnt neccessarly religious at all maybe more spiritual…..

and prefer to have some scientific eveidence at first to help along the way, youll find plenty with things like.

Rekie and Meditation, for me these 2 are spiritual ways of life, i practise both and have found my way and my heaven already im contented most of the time. Ive lived in hell already on this planet.

But yeah back to the point mate, theres loads of scientifc eveidence to back these 2 up to show results and then also go beyond what science cant explaine like how a yogi survives getting his breath down and heart rate to so low he should scentifcally bve dead…

how rekie can cure alignments and how sceience shows us the vibarational rates and metaphysics behind it, what they cant show us which for me is the most interesting and enchanting part of all is where it is located.

I love that bit. This is whats is all about for me, the wonder of not knowing, the day i think i know, or preech from any book having no fouind the answer i think my ego will have declaired me ready to certify. And please allow me to be sectioned.

    Very arrogent man id be.

    Peace.

    Amen to that.

We are all learning and evolving constantly. The point where that stops, and you’ve found some ultimate truth that causes you to spread it to all the world, check yourself for a pulse at the temple before you start. Because your ultimate truth may in fact be a case of death from the neck up…

Oh, and please don’t try to enlighten me with the ultimate truth. Not because you are probably wrong, but because even if you are right, I don’t want everything explained.

That would take away the magic of what is really a completely amazing and wondrous space/time/multiverse/experience/thing…..

    hey starlaugh,

i’m not ‘religious’ but would consider myself spiritual as in i have belief, if that makes sense.

I kinda got the impression that its the tension between proved scientific fact and religious doctrine that causes you problems?

There’s increasing amounts of ‘proof’ out there for intelligent design, that evolution happened and the universe exists as scientifically proven so far (which can be argued to be questionable anyway) but that all the chemistry/physics/biology involved is just too coincidental to have happened by accident, so therefore it must have been designed by some sort of intelligence.

I think that may be a useful way of looking at things? its certainly interesting.

My two pence? I’m not sure we were meant to work it all out anyway and like a lot of others i appreciate the mystery.

An as far as i’m concerned it doesn’t matter what you believe in, what matters is being a decent human being, and u don’t need religion or law to tell u how to do that, as prot once said ‘every being in the universe knows the difference between right and wrong’ 🙂 :group_hug
