                at first I thought you were mixing up Angels greeting with the sea shanty.

                bear in mind in all older North European languages (and still in German the North Sea is feminine) and many words related to strong weather
                and in German today plus Dutch (gender is not specified as strongly) anything to do with authority is feminine

                DE: Die Polizei / Die BundesNetzAgentur / Die BundesNachtrichenDienst / Die Deutsche Telekom
                NL: De Politie / de gemeenschap (council) / de Katholieke Kirk (also feminine in English)

                in Groningen they say “een poes is sterker als tien peerden” (a she-cat is stronger than 10 horses) 😉
