I never dare wear earphones while cycling or walking – way to dangerous. Mind I am ok if my dog is with me – she sits when she hears vehicles approaching [after jumping off the road] and wont cross till she feels its safe

Aw thats cool man, What dog have you got?

this happened last year here, an 18 year old and a 20 year old – the driver was 17, and didnt have a license:
Aidan Marshall charged over crash deaths of Amy Hardy and Lindsay Coulter-Maltby

You shit me right up there, I used to know a kid back in Juniors called Aidan Marshall, people used to call him Alien Martian.

The kiddie in the pic doesn’t look anything like him though, hehe.

Anyway, I refuse to learn to drive myself or use a bicycle (anymore) as I can’t afford to crash (again), the first time is most certainly the last for me, it’s just too expensive.

I am a UK courier, and I’ve had an accident in my company’s van.

Just clean up any stains and spray some fresh air spray. They will be none the wiser.

Sorry… crap joke. I hope you got on ok with this and haven’t had any hassle over it?

Cool man my mate has two of these dogs. They have alot of character as well, quality animals! 😉

Have to say I like how the thread goes ‘I’ve had an accident in my…” before you actually click the topic link.

Hi – Just wanted to say Thanks! to everyone who posted here about the accident. It was very helpful, and much appreciated, and it’s taken far too long for me to come back and say so. Sorry – please forgive my bad manners, I think my life may have tripped up on an airpocket somewhere – am experiencing some turbulence at mo, and my head’s stuck firmly up my arse. I’m assuming that normal service will probably be resumed asap . . . :crazy_diz 😉

But thanks again everyone- just having PV as a place to come to at all – can often be enough to get me through a bumpy patch!:group_hug

    big hugs :group_hug:group_hug

Things like that do happen. You shouldn’t worry too much about it. It can happen to anyone. Well about the 2 people who’ve suffered whiplash that would be solved by your company’s insurance. Just hope it wasn’t a severe whiplash for it would really pissed off your boss.

I’m a little disappointed this is a legit and serious thread. I was expecting them to be wanting advice on where to stand in the back of mates transit van they’d pissed in. Thought they were trying to elude the puddle or stench.

Want to know where you stand after an accident? ON THE HARD SHOULDER!

Next time wear an adult nappy or just blame it on somebody random hitchhiker you picked up.

I think, judging by the post dates, the original poster is OK.

Harsh mate, I been in couple of bumps over the years and they do shake you up

Company van on company time for genuine work use, not your problem, we got fleet insurance where I work and these things happen, will be sorted by the company insurance.

Only reason this could effect you at work would be if you were charged with a motoring offense like drink/drug driving or driving without due care & attention.

    BUT

If you use the works van outside of work for personal use, then that is a taxable benefit and should be declared to Inland Revenue & the insurance company

Also, if you have you own private insurance on your own car you still have to declare the accident to them else that insurance would be invalid and they could refuse to pay out if you ever had to make a claim on your own policy. Your personal car insurance will probably go up.
