  • LOL. Gotta love the Harlem shake. Gives us white folk an excuse to dance badly in style

Best thing seen at the snooker in about 25 years!

    HAHAHA! Love it

    Its Peter Crouch!

Snooker is so jokes, I watched some recently and they make the younger players seem really cool and make them out as the real personalities of the game, then interview them and theyve got about as much charisma as a brick wall! :head_bang

i find them more endearing than in many other sports. they’re modest and somewhat humble. i quite like that

I’m with savvydrav on this one man, snooker players these days are boring as fuck. Too many of them grew up watching Stephen Hendry and pretty much modelled themselves on him, sadly for the sake of entertainment, Hendry is as charismatic as a bag of super noodles! Gimme the old lot any day, at least they were cool.

the TV industry loved it in the 1970s as it helped sell colour television sets (these weren’t that common until the 1980s!). Its ironic that it got a lot of airtime as a sport as its main purpose was to encourage men to sit around watching TV and to smoke cigarettes.

I used to love watching it as a kid mate, the likes of Hurricane Higgins, Jimmy White, Big Bill Werbeniuk and his beer for ‘medicinal purposes’, Dennis Taylor’s glasses and even Steve ‘Interesting’ Davis! They were proper charcters man.

Some years back, I actually got asked for coke by a very famous snooker player (won’t say who for their sake, but when I hear that they’ve popped their clogs, I’ll return to this thread to reveal all…).

lol, its just got more professional… its more high skill now and because of that means the players are more disciplined. its just the same in other sports. there are no fierce rivalries in tennis anymore, no john macenroe’s who could just turn up on natural talent alone and be a whiny brat… now everyone just focuses on their own space to get the most out of their game. it is entertainment, but for the players its all about winning… also snooker is a sport where it seems full of courtesy and u dont get so many big ego’s like other sports… thats either to be liked or disliked depending on your perspective

just like the music scene after the more blatant money laundering methods from the drugs trade have been identified and stopped…

One thing ive always hated is pre/post match football interviews though, some of them are considered quite charismatic but they will still just say these boring generic answers, the things they say are so predictable. If i was a proffesional sportsmen id be abit more happy and joke around abit. Theyll be like:

    Q. ” how did it feel to score the winning goal?”
    A. ” It was good, i was passed the ball and i kicked it in the net. It was an important game. Blah blah blah 3 points. Blah blah blah gaffa. “

Well they’re all fucked cos ronnie o’sulivan is coming back.

I think I’m gonna become a snooker hooligan just to put a bit of tension in there! I’m gonna pick a player to support and bash up anyone who’s a fan of whatever opponent he’s playing that day!

Haha snooker hooligans, that’s brilliant. The thing of the 2010 decade i’m guessing. You thought you’d seen it all in the 80s with Football hooliganism.. you thought wrong.

It must be so tempting to just shout out “CUNT!” when they’re playing snooker cos no one makes a noise..
