I’ll really have to look into that. :]
I know that in prayer, God doesn’t always grant them, it just left a bad taste in my mouth.
So, after eight years, I’ve decided it was time to try and find a religion [not Christianity].
Suggestions?
I’ve always classed myself as a christian of the protestant failh. I take the bible as the true story of jesus who in my eyes was a freedom fightor of his time. Preying is for yourself and a time for contemplation on what is going on around you, its a time to atune yourself and bring yourself to earth.
Is god who it says in the bible? I dont know but when I prey Its for me to adress myself and i think about my ancestors who have passed away. Theres no gods and no masters just me and nature.. Though I still prey in an protestant church…..
organised religion is absurd and arrogant. men claiming to be representing “what god says”
what a senseless assertion
what a senseless assertion
destroy the individual?
what a senseless assertion
innit. and it’s fucking immoral a lot of it. the aids crisis in africa could be almost grind to a halt if the vatican would just say contraception is ok
to the thread starter, why do you need a religion? i’m agnostic myself, but at the end of the day i dont care, we’re not gonna find out the answers anytime soon so why think about it so much?
the one religion i would consider though is buddhism.

Yeah, I consider myself agnostic as well. I just feel that at the end of the day, it wouldn’t hurt to put my faith in something. My best friend is actually take me to temple with her [she’s Buddhist] one of these days and translate the monks’ lessons.
you could put your faith in people 😉
personally i believe in buddhism you can learn alot about life and nature from it also if you like spirituality look at shinto a japanese religion where everything has a spirit

To those of you interested in Buddhism:
I quite liked to sound of Buddhism because i guess I perceived it as different to other major religions. I spent a little time in Dhramsala (dalhi lama’s residence) last year, even got to see him (from a great distance!)
But it all seemed the same as the other religions to me. The people (while very nice) didn’t seem particularly enlightened or happy + I saw lots of monks looking very bored during long prayer sessions. reverence and idolisation of the lama seemed just like christian worship of christ to me. I think it has some great philosophy about it (which can be said of every religion), but there still seemed to be far too much dogmatic BS in the way too (also can be said of every religion).
Thats just my limited experience with one school of buddhism though, there are many more.
I have less faith in humanity than I do an attention span lol
Sorry to be blunt but IMO its all bollocks. Fair one to anyone who is religious tho, i guess people have different ways of dealing with their insecurities.
😉 but there are a hell of a lot of decent people out there 😉
Far and few between, but I’m lucky enough to have them as friends. [You guys here seem pretty wicked, yourselves :group_hug]
until religion is gone the world will not develop to its full potential
