anyone here go to the party in the Mansfield quarry? Good fun but got sectioned the next day to end at 18:00 – according to the cops (who were actually fairly friendly) it got overlooked that there were loads of pit villages around and the sound did get above the big mountain of low-grade coal and centreparcs chalets were in line of the noise – 900 complaints apparently!
We had a load of chavs on quad bikes etc showing up stirring up bare dust and nearly running over people (one crashed and ended up being airlifted off!) – although to be fair they could well have been from the local communities who were kept awake the night before – but then some people on 4x4s were ramming and trashing stolen cars which didn’t help matters.
Got the impression they were a bit annoyed that we had come in from the south and taken over “their” site (stealing cars from the local area and trashing them in quarries is unfortunately a fairly common youth pastime in areas where there are pissed off youth, no jobs, anger and quarries).
Was still good though -pity there werent’ many more “local” rigs (where did Babble and others end up then?)
it was also the furthest North I have ever been in my life! I seemed to keep slipping over in the mud though – I blame northern pixies/elves for this as it doesn’t seem to happen in my own area (and there is plenty mud here as well) – I think they realised it was my first visit to the area and that because of this I should be “baptised” with Northern muck and coal dust etc ….
