  • So i got 2 tickets to go an see an acoustic set by the foo fighters @ the ipswich regent??(i know) on monday, from my dad for my birthday, i quite like the foos but i can hardly afford to get down there for next monday, my girlfriend doesnt really want to go as shes in the middle of exams, and there sellin for about 100 for 2 on ebay

So should i break my old mans heart, who cudnt get tickets as it was 2 tickets per person and he wont take mine, and sell them on ebay

Or should i leave my self even more skint, with a semi memorable night

    answers on a postcard plz

speak to your dad again – and tell him your dilemma….

from what you say it sounds like he wants to attend the concert himself – if he won’t take the tickets for himself and who ever else he wants to take there with him then let him know you have to sell them but explain why

If I was your dad i’d actually be more proud I had a son who at a young age actually cared about his girlfriend doing well in her exams and also ensuring that he has some money of his own (and doesn’t have to blag his parents for money!) -especially in these days when people complain the youth of today don’t care about the long term!

I’d pretty much made up my mind that they were to be sold any way, jus lookin for sum renforcement that i wernt being 2 *untish, tickets wnt go back to him as hes taking my sis 2 c them in hide park (obsessed fan stylee i know), so your sayin that i can actually turn it round so hes impressed that im selling his prezzy 2, alrite jackpot

cheers GL nutin, like a bit or imoral support

depends wat means more to you i suppose, your dads happiness or £100, i rekon you should go i know it means that cash will be tight, but everyones gotta go through that stage at sometime in their life.

yeah but that stage has been last 3/4yrs 2 lil cash 2 long,

probs shud jus stop spendin 50+ quid at parties at the weekend

yeh actually i kinda just jumped into that one without reading GL’s post, sounds like alot better idea, just ignore wat i sed. Take it easy m8!

I bet if you just went out in cambridge or anywhere else round here you would find yourself spending just the same amount at a weekend. Salaries/wages are a lot less than in the SE

TBH it did make me laugh though that you’ve got someones dad trying to encourage them to attend gigs and they don’t want to go because they are worried about spending too much money and their partners education..

most other young people (assuming they weren’t working) would have gone to the concert anyway, not worried about exams/money and blagged their parents for more money at the weekend.

my dad did everything possible to discourage me from partying etc or even getting too involved in the music scene because it was an “expensive distraction” from “more important things in life”. He never listened to music much apart from Country and Western and Elvis!

At least yours is willing to accept your lifestyle it seems – just make sure you get him something good for fathers day or his birthday as he seems like a top bloke..

Well the ipswich regent fully seated for an acoustic set isnt exactly a gig to strike fear into the hearts of parents,

but my old man is a good bloke, took me 2 reading when i was 13 and various other gigs over the years – in sum ways it has made me find another venue to listen to music, as when every i wanted to go to a gig my dad would be up for comin along, which made hangin out with mates pullin girls an gettin pissed/stoned rather embarissing

so i moved to ravin – my dad isnt espically happy with me as he is hardcore enviromentalist, volunteers his sundays to keep a beauty spot beautiful – so u can imagine his dismay when sum norfolk bumpkins raved up on this area of land, which has scientific interest, endangered species ect, like every other spot in the UK that hasnt been developed and is used for raves

thus the parent dissaproval factor is restored, he is against my favorite past time (the way it shud be) and im bored by him tellin me how delicate the land is, and we’re harmin it etc,

i do love the fact that the reson he’s against me partyin is enviromental an not 2 do with the rugs
