I’m going to do a little tour of the south west with some freinds until september, anyone got any recommendations for places to camp/check out?
Probably gunna do dartmoor for a bit, burrator or some shit… Any good isolated beaches would be nice…
woody bay in north devon is very nice… need to walk a couple of miles down the cliffs through ancient woodland to get to it
loads of places really
I know theres a fair few, Study down that way… Done a fair bit driving etc in the area. Lovely part of the country, just wondering if anyone had any particular places they like.. Woody bay sounds nice..
Dont know if of any help as I dont know my geography very well but I think ‘tintagel’ (??spelling) is that way, cornwall.
Beautiful scenery, and there is a mad hotel that you can stay for free if your an artist or musician, well worth popping into,
cant remember the name, (?google it?) my friends got married there few years back, and I remember a rig was set up in a few fields away but thought it a bit too rude to leave the wedding and go investigating :groucho:
Also dorset is lovely but I think thats just south, Lulworth bay well worth a visit if your n that area – esp at sunset with a cold beer!!
whistmans wood near postbridge on dartmoor is also worth a walk
800 ish year old dwarf oak wood… about a 2 mile walk from the road, with a couple of impressive tors at the top of the ridge… and about half hour drive from the warren inn, which is good for rabbit pie, cider and picking 😉
good spot for camping is big meadow, about a mile east of coombe martin in north devon, also home of Satish Kumar
i also like whitesands lodge in Sennan in cornwall…can pitch a tent and still use the kitchen, thus getting around the bizzare cornish habit of not serving food after about 8pm, plus the obvious bonus of being surrounded on all sides by secluded coves, as well as the impressive whitesands bay on your doorstep… personally i prefer porthkernow and porthchapel… a couple of miles walk away
Go to Totnes, propa hippie town. Saturday market jus like festival stalls, even got chai tea stalls!! cool little vibe there, only good for a day trip if ya dunt know anyone.raaa
Croyde and Woolacombe are both Nice beaches and you most likely find a small party at either during the summer Nights,Also take a look round cow castle area of Exmoor you used to be able to camp there,Cow castle is a Neolithic Fortress and the whole area there has loads of Barrows -Stones-Mines if you into that sort of thing:wink:
Deffo, I’ve spent many a mashed weekend in Croyde in my ‘youth’!! :crazy_dru
Beautiful place!!
