  • Ok if any of you care about art, in particular photography and freedom of expression you all need to read this:

The government are trying to make photography in public places a crime, in an attempt to shop peados and the pap!! Thought if this goes ahead the only people who will get to take the photos out in public will be the paps!!! its stupid, photography effects every one, even if you don’t think it effects you now, what about all the holiday pics, and the first time a loved one does something, or going or seeing something amazing or never seen before, but you wont be able to record it, I don’t know what I would do with out photography, imagine all of the photos you would miss out on. Please just take a moment and think about how this will affect you and any one you know. Thanks

If the bill is passed then you will have to apply for a special license to take photographs in public, no matter who you are and what you’re taking pictures of!!

So sign the petition whether you take photos or not. It a fucking stupid idea. It’s a little tedious, you have to follow a link from an email the send you, but it’s worth it!!

THERE NEEDS TO BE 750,00 SIGNTURES ON IT TO STOP IT GOING THROUGH!!

Ive signed this and emailed the address, hopefully the petition will make a difference, what else are the government gonna stop us from doing??

Signed and passed on to my address book

Im sure I read somewhere that nearly or maybe more than 3000 new laws had been introduced since labour Government got in,sounds like they may be going for the 4000 mark.

    I have signed,

Also just emailed to a friend who is studying photography at the local college!

    signed and forwarded

:head_bang loada wankers! signed of course!

    Hello everyone,
Clearly I have too much time on my hands! For those of you who read the email I sent recently regarding the petition against restrictions on photography in public places I provide in this email the answers to some obvious questions that you should have asked yourself before signing it. Questions like:
1.’What bill or legislation in parliament is being opposed?’
2.’Who started this petition and why?’
    3. What are the current restrictions on photography in public places?’ (for some information that goes some way towards answering this see the attachment)
I feel a bit of a fool for just going to the website and signing the petition. Just because it sounds like a righteous cause it doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do or even a useful thing to do. It was great fun on the Downing Street site seeing some of the absurd and pointless (like this one) petitions, For example there is one signed by about 60 people proposing that it should be legal for pet shops in the UK to sell elephants.
After a little research here are my answers to the first two questions.
    1. There is no bill or legislation being opposed. See this link for exact details from the man who started this e-petition: http://www.phooto.co.uk/rights.shtml
    2. Simon Taylor started the petition because, as a semi-pro photographer, he was getting annoyed by some people’s attitudes towards him and his colleagues taking pictures sometimes. Below is an article from the web that tells you more about this and the issues that he has raised.

    Thanks Glo 🙂

    and its gaining momentum:weee:

haha reading some of the names on the elephant petition

    :laugh_at:
John Merrick (I already have 5)
Michael Cowie (I’m going to use it to commute to work – I’ll show those 4by4s!)

Humm so there was no need to forward this on to my mates taking photography at college?

I might look a twat! :hopeless:
