Phuture is an Atlanta / Chicago based group founded in 1985 by DJ Pierre, Spank Spank and Herb J. The group’s 1987 release “Acid tracks” lay claim to being the first-ever Acid house record using Roland’s TB-303 that kick started a whole new genre of music that has been emulated by countless artists around the world. After a 20 year break apart, original members Pierre and Spank Spank are back together. Now with newest member Lothario Lee, they plan on picking up where they left off. The Planet of the Drums kru was initially created as an outlet for all of us to perform together at different shows and events. Over the years however, that concept evolved. We feel that it is our calling to not only promote quality drum and bass Stateside, but also help provide a voice for our scene as well. Our music has languished in small back rooms on undersized sound rigs for far too long. We are taking a firm stand— ’enough is enough.’ Promoters need to either represent fully or not represent at all…and as Planet of the Drums we will not support those that try to use our scene strictly as a means to line their pockets. Through unification we hope to increase awareness, improve conditions for junglists nationwide and let everyone know that drum and bass isn’t just dance music, it is a way of life. T.Linder and DJ Seoul share a similar upbringing in the world of electronic music. Both lifelong Detroiters, these two formidable DJs gained their underground education by studying the techniques of the versatile street-style DJs of their youth: notably DJs like Jeff Mills, Claude Young, and Gary Chandler. The no-nonsense, all encompassing approach to the craft shaped the formative years of the young DJs, and this aesthetic is still evident in their performances today. Both Seoul and Linder share a great deal of respect for their musical forefathers and display it through a painstaking touring and production schedule both as solo artists and as the DTM 2×4.

The Detroit Techno Militia 2×4 is a combined ensemble performance by these two powerhouse DJs playing on four turntables at the same time. Seoul and Linder are both students of Techno history and share a great love for the tradition of DJing. Their weapons of choice: analog turntables with vinyl records- without the aid of computers or controllers. Listeners can expect to hear an aggressive, edgy blend of music, spanning many genres and eras with a heavy emphasis on homegrown Detroit Techno and Electro Bass. Their energy and expertise directly reflects their passion for the music and their 30+ years of combined professional DJ experience.

Made in England, Jessica Fenner aka Fortune, came from a family that loved throwing big parties with live music, dancing and 200 or so happy people – clearly to blame for her passion for music events! Playing piano, flute and saxophone, early years were also influenced by local Bristol artists, Massive Attack, Roni Size, Morcheeba. When rave culture erupted in the 80s, Steve Silk Hurley’s Jack Your Body landed at #1 on the top 40 charts, The Prodigy and Carl Cox became household names, and the young music fan was hooked. By 16, she was involved with a local promotions outfit Transition, and was even suspended for taking younger girls clubbing!
