these guys are amazing, apparently I ‘should have heard’ of them, as they were a bunch of travellers and they used to do the festival curcuit with their amazing creations

Mutoid Waste Company « MuTATE BRITAIN

The Mutoid Waste Company was a performance arts group founded in the United Kingdom by Joe Rush and Robin Cooke in the early 1980s which continued until the 1990s, when it was based in Italy.

Influenced by the movie Mad Max and the popular Judge Dredd comics, they specialised in organising illegal parties in London throughout the 1980s, driven at first by eclectic assortments of fringe music such as psychedelic rock and dub reggae, but then embracing the burgeoning acid house music movement by the late 1980s. They were probably also influenced by the TV show Blake’s 7, which featured Mutoids, reconditioned humans who had had their personalities removed.[citation needed]

The fire work display at the end was epic, not too sure how good for the environment but certainly pretty!

HAHA, I see your shambala thread pop up after the reply to this I made. I was about to link you to this thread, but I read this before I decided whether or not to use that as a reply. :laugh_at:

“Mutoid Waste” are something of a legend. Although not many of them still alive. (I only met one ex-member so take this with a bit of salt…)

What they did best was vehicle modification. “Carhenge” is still a legend from the 80s Glastonbury festivals.

Probably their most memorable were the vehicles that were still operational after being chopped, reweldged and repainted.

Robin Mutoid had a hand in Earthdream and runs Rainbow Serpent.
