Hey everyone (anyone!),

I’ve just started uni and moved to York and am finding it a wee bit difficult finding partners in crime! There’s fokin’ nout much goin’ on in York like.

There must be some parties going on somewhere……

I met a few people from leeds at the Dragon festival the other week who said they go to Riff Raff at the West Indian Centre. I’ve been to one night there, but ‘av got no friends to go with 😥

Also anyone know of any sites for a bus? Preferably within cycling distance of York….

Hey, we go down the West Indian center quite a bit for Cabbage and Riff-Raff, so you’re welcome to come along. We’re going to Riff-Raff this Saturday, if you wanna join us send me a PM and I’ll reply with my mobile number.

We usually meet in the train station and get a taxi to the venue.

Theres gonna be some seriously good shit going down all summer. Trust me, if your prepared to travel to manc/sheffield/leeds/bradford your almost certainly to get a party every weekend come may
Weve got some bass bins and stuff but we are trying to hook up with other rigs with transport and more records n stuff.
There is one planned this weekend in leeds but the location is risky and likely to get busted

Yeah, I went to that party instead of Riff-Raff, we were lucky not to get busted till about 10am, properly mad party tho!

Helloha! Well i def dont wanna miss out on the parties going down in Leeds.. Missed out on last weeks after riff raff as no one got their act together to tell me 😥

I heard it was pretty ace – I really hope the venue gets used again?! it’d be amazing…. :horay: :bounce_fl hurray for the summer and bouncing in the forest again :bounce_p:

Looking forward to ragga tip – is it on the 22nd?

Doubt we’ll get away with it there again cos some dickheads smashed a load of internal upstairs windows and sprayed fire extinguishers all over the place, the cops were pretty pissed off….

Not sure about any parties coming up in Leeds, but there is a Fatmoon party in Sheffield on the 22nd that should be pretty good.

On Saturday, I’m going to a Dissent! open day/meeting. Have you heard of it? It’s an anti-globalisation/capitalist pressure group/network that will be protesting at the G8 summit in Gleneagles in June. If you’re interested, it starts at 10.30am at The Common Place, 23-25 Wharf Street, Leeds. There will be an introduction as to what the G8 is, why resist etc.. and what plans are being made (blockades etc..) for the protest. Its an all day thing, lunch, dinner…. Then a Dissent! benefit: bands, djs… starting at 9pm. I have no idea what its gonna be like, so I’m gonna go along and then maybe go to Riff Raff afterwards. If you’re interested, PM me and we’ll get in touch some how. (I lost my phone again today) Maybe we could meet about 10.30ish to get a taxi to west indian centre…?

If you want to go to free parties in Leeds then there are some really ace one in the Hollies, a forest just off the Otley road on the Mean wood valley trail just beyond Headingly (where a lot of the students live). Imagine, turning up at the edge of the woods and you see some little twinkling in the distance, as you wander off into the darkness you see more lights and are met by a sparkling pathway of candles leading you through the forest. Then you arrive in this little circular stone quarry in the woods where the sound systems set up and its really nice cause you can sit at the top of the quarry and look down on the party. I think there has been a party there for the past three weekends and I’ve been going there for parties for 5 years now!! It’s a beautiful little spot and full of fantastic people. And even if its raining the parties still go ahead as some tarp is hung up between the trees…
