  • I’m in the process of moving this forum (link) to new software integrated into WordPress, the CMS I’ve been using for some time now for the radio station. Certain limitation apply to the migration unfortunately which I will list below soon. However all posts, threads and user accounts will remain available. And once I’ve closed the vbulletin site, you’ll need to let me know if there’s any content there you need access to. Alternatively grab it now while you still can…

    Dr B., you’re a legend 🙂

The like/thanks buttons aren’t working here so I couldn’t click on them, but I can understand if thats part of the migration as the last thing you want is yet more data pouring into live databases that are being migrated (I’m still impressed that Dr B managed to successfully create the two sites a few years back without major hassles or data loss, lots of other similar size sites have tried the same but it did not go well for them, just this weekend I found 3 sites that catalogued 1980s UK TV and youth culture I have lurked on since 1990s which have lost content due to software/layout changes)

I think I’ve already duplicated the tech stuff that was on my blog on .com on flickr and my personal blog and anything left behind is likely to be outdated by now so its not a problem if that isn’t as easily accessible after any changes on here..

Just to reiterate. This forum stays as is. The forum on partyvibe.come with all users, posts and threads will be moved to new forum software with integration into the radio station CMS.

    Limitations of the migration are…

    Known Issues:

Users must reset their password manually using /wp-login.php?action=lostpassword See #1969 for detailed password information.

    Forums

Forum visibility such as moderator or admin only forums will be publicly visible after importing and you need to secure these manually.

‘Link Forums’ will be imported as a standard forum without any URL redirect link.

‘Locked Forums’ will be imported as like a normal open forum, again you can close/lock these via the forums panel in wp-admin and setting the forum attributes status to closed.

    Topics & Replies

    No file attachments are imported.

    Users

vBulletin does not support user profile support for ‘First Name’ and ‘Last Name’ only ‘username’ and that will be the WordPress Username.

vBulletin Moderators, Groups, Ranks are not imported, any users you wish to make ‘moderators’ or ‘keymasters’ you will have to assign these roles manually via the main WordPress Admin User panel (/wp-admin/users.php).

User ‘Personal Messages (PM’s) are not supported or imported.
User ‘Avatars’ are also not supported ‘out of the box’ by either WordPress or bbPress, if the users email address is registered with a ‘Gravatar this will automatically be used by WordPress and bbPress, otherwise this is plugin territory.

vBulletin MSN, Skype custom profile fields are also not supported by WordPress or bbPress ‘out of the box’. (See Note #1 below)

Dunno if you missed anything but you lost me lol.

What was the old forum has now been integrated into the radio website here:

        https://www.partyvibe.com/radio/social/

Existing user accounts from the old set up work but you will be asked to register a new password.

I worked that out, finally 🙂
But its not possible to edit profile and my old profile don’t work properly

There’s a link to edit your profile under the forum drop down menu. Click Forum then Profile, and you should be good to go.
