The way that psilocybin works means that it can have severe mind-altering effects.

In this study, the people taking the drug rated the hallucinogenic experience as “stressful” at some times but “psychologically and spiritually uplifting” – describing encounters with past lives, faraway planets, and communing with deities.

But all had previously taken psychedelic drugs before the study – which the researchers say was to increase the safety of the study.

However Dr Paul Blenkiron, a consultant in adult psychiatry at Bootham Park Hospital, York, said: “I’m concerned that the study only measured effects up to 24 hours and OCD is a chronic condition, not measurable in hours and days, but months and years.

“About 12% of people can suffer flashbacks after less than 10 exposures [to psychedelics] many years later, beyond the six months of this study, so long term effects should be carefully assessed.”

Wonder whether they will be allowed to do more testing or if this will be repressed due to the drug being illegal?

Hehehe bet i know someone who would volunteer for testing…:groucho::groucho::groucho::groucho:

    Have OCD do they?

I have a bit of OCD.. Not exactly full on.

An It has Pretty much faded in the past couple of years (since i started taking hallucinogens..)

    Hmmm…

More details please Freak Audio if you would be so kind?

This is a fascinating area of research to me :weee: [along with the use of other illegal drugs for treatment of post traumatic stress syndrome]

I’ve read stuff about this from books written in the 1960s and 1970s

in all cases its been thought of as “interesting” but stopped due to the anti-drugs pressures

I could just imagine the risk assesment these researchers must have to fill in; and research like this must require so many extra resources due to “health and safety concerns” (such as patients suffering psychotic episodes or the risk of break-ins to the research centres)

there are too many prohibitionist pressures for any of this research to be taken forward (I bet any doc who took part in it worldwide would find themselves under scrutiny by their nations security services as a matter of routine!)

The UN single convention on narcotics has to be abolished before the world can progress..

No real details to give. It’s simply idle thought, I was never diagnosed or anything. Only told by the child psychologists I was seeing at the time that I showed some slight signs of it several years back.

These were however the same people Who Wrongly said that I suffered from ADHD, and shoved me on ritalin. 🙁

I was later diagnosed with Aspergers. :crazy_diz

God i hated having to visit psycologists.:crazy_diz
