  • I’m not sure what you mean, even by northern standards. Guessin down sooth you have a few legitimate gangsters you stay clear off. Up north its all youngster wannabes trying to intimidate the vulnerable members of society to make themselves feel like a big man

I’m just messin’ with ya on the whole ‘even by northern standards’ thing mate, my cousin’s married to a lass from Salford and another cousin of mine’s from Blackpool, (is this comin’ across a bit ‘some of my best friends are black’ to you?) I just like rippin on the whole North/South thing. Actually did a little rap years ago with a mate from Middlesbrough called North v South, sadly we never got very far with it cos we just kept getting wrecked the whole time instead of writing it!

And as regards the little wanker ‘wannabe gangstas’, you get them everywhere these days sadly mate, but they’re just little tossers who need a fucking good kicking cos they’ve no respect for anyone or anything.

Sorry to any users of this forum that wear Nike but it’s chavvy as fuck that’s why it shouldn’t be allowed. That’s the way up north anyway. Norms where normal shoes trainers, Chavs Nike adidas puma whatever the fuck they can rob off the back of a lorry and skaters/alternatives wear converse or skate shoes.

I think subcultures / divisions are much more defined up North. Yesterday I was chatting with another DJ at the radio station (who was wearing all that “dodgy” sportswear and is at least 3 years older than me) about the difference between Ipswich and similar towns up North and he noticed that everyone stays in their own groups (divided along dress codes, ethnic groups etc) compared to here where everyone interacts together. This doesn’t mean trouble doesn’t happen but its more likely between mixed groups rather than one subculture against one another.

me and my free party mates tend to wear cheap sportswear simply because its cheap. And hipster clothes like skinny jeans etc would just be silly at my age and uncomfortable to both for cycling and the unescapable fact that in spite of being healthy, active and in good physical fitness I am slightly wider than I was in my 20s. Indeed at the station there is everyone from urban kids, skaters, hipsters, Asian women (both Chinese and South Asian), DJ Mohammed from Iran (whose tracks I still haven’t managed to hear but I want to as I’m intrigued as to what music is like there) old rocker dudes and other greybeards – and all these people interact peacefully together which is the whole idea of it and why I’ve been spending more time there instead of with raves etc as its a far friendlier atmosphere.

This is why a PV party would be such a great idea dude, everyone happily interacts with each other already, so why not chuck us all in a great big room where we all spin our favourite tracks and have a great time? We all know it makes sense!

I really want to hit freeparty with you in a month or so. We could arrange a special pv party for early next year its gonna take time though and better find a good location. I would def help with the set up as much as possible x

I try to avoid labels like the plague purely for ethical reasons. I have a profound attraction to fred perry though. I hate myself for it :'(
