  • I feel like we are all a bit spoilt for quality television at the momemt, they seem to be taking over for movies. (which is just as well because you can make them as complex as possible this way)

Ive compiled a short list myself :

Breaking bad; School teacher starts to cook meth to pay for cancer treatment. Its a cat and mouse chase between his rise to meth empire and the DEA trying to find him. This series has claimed global and critical success and recieved multiple awards.

Game of Thrones; epic medievil fantasy based on the book series by George RR Martin. A set of lords and highborns scheme and war amongst each other to claim the Iron throne. Its unpredictable and complex. The writer never feels the ned to save beloved characters, to keep its watchers in a constant state of suspense. Oh its also FULL of nude scenes.

Sherlock (bbc drama) ; A contempary take on the classic story. Stars Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbach and Mark gatiss (league of gentlemen). The characters are endeering and its peppered with comedy. Sherlock solves crimes and reads people using his remarkable gift of logic and deduction.

Anyone got any more? im thinking of watch boardwalk empire next, true detective. and the walking dead.

Not much of a watcher of TV thriller series, would rather read a book as it allows greater scope for my imagination to paint the picture.

Hands down my favourite thriller novelist is Val McDermid; she wrote Wire in the Blood, that went on to be converted into a popular TV series. I know you’re a keen reader too so many it’s worth you checking her out if you haven’t heard of her.

Try mammon, it’s on channel 4 I think.
