i got the red lights on mine 2 weeks ago:cry: just bought a cheap1 and put my hard drive on it

take it apart, remove the fans, then boot it up.and let it overheat until one of the red rings goes away. This re-melts the solder under the chip and fixes it for a while. if u cant be arsed to take it apart even wrappign it up in a towel and leaving it on does the trick

difficult to believe you can fix these things by forcing them to overheat but I squeezed quite a few months out of my old one by doing this

This only works for a small proportion of people and it doesn’t usually last long. You did well to get a few months out of it. I only got about 10 extra mins with the overheating trick.

You can get better results by removing the heatsink on the GPU, cleaning it and applying more thermal paste. Again, this is sometimes only a temp fix as if I remember correctly it’s often the PCB that warps and the solder balls end up cracking.

just bang it thru the 3 year warranty?

The best way to fix it is to unplug all the connections , open 1st floor window , take xbox to the window and tHrow it out ,REPEAT untill xbox 360 parts are no bigger than a postage stamp, then go and buy a proper console like the PS3.

I say this as i had a a 360 the thing died on me 2 months after the extended warrenty was up fcuking Microsoft rip off cants !

PS3 = Blue Ray , free online play (how much are MS mugging you up for?) , does not break down after 6 months,

PS3’s break down as well. My brothers one is fucked. He’s had it for 12 months and it’s completely gone.

Been looking into it and quite a few PS3s are breaking down.

    I blame the manufacturers.

Anyone looking forward to Red Dead Redemption?

I am but they’ve held it back again till May 21st.

At this rate I’ll never get to play it.
