  • I dont know if I can be arsed sending any more letters seeing most of it gets lost…

sent a college application form off 2 mnths ago and it never got there
so had to resend the letter this time by recorded delivery which has cost me more money but cos av had to resend it may be too late to get on the course. Incredibly irritating cos this is the only course avail for me to get teaching qualification, and I really need to apply for teaching jobs…

Spoke to someone in a call centre for the postoffice and they were so patronising and unhelpful.

    I am also sick of callcentres… :head_bang

    :flowers:

argh – thats a pain. hope you get on the course

I always send important letters by signed for and I also always put my return address on all my post so it might come back to me

I would have sent it by recorded delivery but didn’t have enough money at the time.
Resent by recorded delivery this time. Cant believe how much it costs to send something to make sure it gets there

have you tried faxing it to them?

Today a delivery of contact lenses arrived at my house and it had clearly been bashed about – the packages inside were OK (they are made of stuff intended to withstand such treatment), but you would have thought the staff would have realised what was in the package…

Unfortunately there is no real guarantee of delivery on “normal” post, its “best endeavours” which depends as much on the individual staffs goodwill and them having pride in their work

I’ve worked for Royal Mail before and so have lots of my friends (was a good job for ravers due to strange hours, plus other advantages of knowing the postal system well :groucho:)

It was once a “national pride” thing to be a good postie (irrespective of your ethnic origin) and when the Royal Mail works well it was one of the things that truly unites Britain – but when they go through bad times of industrial relations or feel they are being overworked and can’t call a strike loads of letters/packages get lost or stomped (I’ve seen people Christmas presents get stomped on before :yakk:)

you also get rogue posties who nick or destroy mail, anything from junkies to BNP posties – when I lived in SE London in some streets if you had a “foreign” name you’d get post often torn up (and anything of value stolen)

I’ve noticed a lot of public sector organisations which would normally always use Royal Mail are switching to competitors now – can see why they are doing this but its ultimately not good for the country as the competitors often cherry pick urban areas and don’t want the rural business.

Speak to the college though, their admin staff send out thousands of items of mail so you may even find they are well aware of this problem.

hmmmm.. if I knew anyone with a fax machine….. maybe ‘Jobnet’ near me has one….would def be better than posting.

am just stressed cos need a job and anything you try to do to get somewhere just gets nowhere 😥

…oh well av got me lantern making workshop soon, that’ll cheer me up

Ask around your local businesses – they most likely have faxes and may be prepared for a small fee to let you use it.

Failing that you can access fax services via the internet [for free] if you have all the information on your pc or can scan it in. Try googling for free fax services and see if you find it [let me know if you cant find them – may have a link somewhere]
