Mars has pulled a UK TV ad for Snickers featuring Mr T harassing a speed walker for being a “disgrace to the man race” after US complaints that it was offensive to gay people.

The American confectionary giant pulled the Snickers ad even though it was never shown on TV in the US – as happened last month with the Heinz Deli Mayo ad featuring two men kissing.

The Snickers ad, made by the same agency that caused an international furore with the Heinz male kiss commercial, was first broadcast in the UK on July 13.

The commercial, by ad agency AMV BBDO, features Mr T in full-on BA Baracus mode, the character he played in The A-Team.

It opens with Mr T crashing through a building on the back of a flatbed truck mounted with a Snickers-firing machine gun.

Mr T pulls alongside a man in tight yellow shorts who is speed walking and growls: “Speed walking. I pity you fool. You a disgrace to the man race. It’s time to run like a real man.”

He then opens fire, peppering the man with Snickers bars and forcing him to break into a run.

the worlds gone mad! how can they pull one advert for being offensive to gay people yet pull another cause it shows 2 men kissing. they did the same with those D&G adverts a while ago

i remember reading somewhere that one of those kfc adverts where people sing got pulled because they sung with ther mouths full and it gave a bad example to children cause it showed bad etiquette and unhealthy food:you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazy

Lucky you said majority there sonny jim. The whole of my mums side of the family is American lol, but don’t worry, they are in complete agreement with the rest of the world as to the stupidity of many Americans, mainly president Bush 😉

Yeah I know loads of yanks from playing a few online games and they are sound as fuck. Know a couple of redneck types and they are funny as fuck. And are also In agreement that there are alot of stupid Americans, although they haven’t said that as such. America Is such a huge place with such a diverse mix of cultures there is no such thing as one American really to base judgment on.

It does appear alot of areas are brainwashed so to speak though and live quite clulessly. But then again this is only what Ive seen on TV.

Yeah man not all of em are silly , I’ve met such highly intelligent Yanks before and they’ve been safe as fuck!

It’s the ‘up their own arses’ yanks that annoy the fuck out of me! then again there’s alot of Britons that have the same effect lol. :love:

But anyway.. I found that advert quite amusing .. So did a lot of my gay friends. They weren’t offended by it at all :S
