  • Does anyone know If I’m meant to sign on today?

I went for an appointment last Thurs, and he never mentioned that I wouldn’t be coming in on Monday. Their office is closed, according to the phone line, but I don’t want to take the chance!

Anyone else due to sign on today, that can confirm?

    inb4 dole scum etc

I worked as a Civil Servant for 4 years (not DWP but Defra in SE England) and it would be extremely unusual to open a front office on a Bank Holiday as they would have to pay overtime rates, especially when they are trying to cut budgets. Therer isn’t any clear instructions on the website, but govt websites are slow to update.

if its only walking distance to the office I’d perhaps go there, but I’d also call them the day after to find out what the correct signing on day is..

    Thanks for looking.

Nah, it’s not walking distance unfortunately, it’s a 30 min bus rise.

Yeah, I’ll give them a ring tomorrow.

In retrospect, I did see someone there on the very last working day, previous to Monday, which was Thursday. So maybe they included my signing on with that appointment. He never asked for my book, but maybe he did it on the computer regardless.

I have to sign on on mondays and i got told i don’t sign on till my next sign in (so 4 weeks from last time – so the 9th). Yoo should get paid automaticaly on thur I think. But like GL said best to check with them first if you can.

    The Evil sign on Centre.

Yeah I will do Daft, cheers.

You could do with a pint emoticon for this forum, useful for a post such as this 😀
