  • im always the last 1 up, does anyone know any like really amazing sleeping pills or somthing cause i have had enough of my complete inability to fall asleep (dspd) i remember someone suggested somthing in an older thread but i cant find it iv taken to smoking alot of weed to help but its hardly a good solution

    :hopeless: +exercise=

i have trouble sleeping but its not getting to sleep its staying asleep, you know seriously the best thing for you to do is to go see your doctor, i used to self prescribe sleeping pills and it really fucked my natural sleep pattern up.

I know it can sound ‘airy fairy’ but I use relaxation cds (esp ‘guided ones’)

    hot milk / chamomile tea

exersize also helps (but not just before bed time)

stopping caffine / tea etc around 4 – 5 pm

    and not eating before bed

used to use those natural sleep tablets but didnt find them any help

the problem with sleeping tablets is you can come to be relliant on them , even if not physically addictive, but psychologically

if you get em its worth just for 4 – 5 days to get your self in to a routeen…

Melatonin supplements have been clinically shown to be an effective treatment for jet lag, sleep disorders and moodiness. Melatonin appears to be involved in the natural biorhythm of the body, that is known as the “circadian” rhythm. This refers to the internally built clock that signals the secretion of various nutrients at different times to regulate all body functions. Melatonin plays a key role as the biological timekeeper. It also seems to function in controlling periods of sleepiness and wakefulness.

failing that valiums always a winner! not good to become reliant on them tho.
Ive found eating healthy food and excersise help. also try having a bath and reading a book instead of watching the t.v about an hour before you go to bed, works for me sometimes.
If you’ve got stuff on your mind it can be hard to stop thinking and let yourself go to sleep.

iv tried like exercise to wear my seld out and natural pills and everything it does not work, delayed sleep phase disorder is what im told it is although it sounds like 1 of thoose made up things i cant fall asleep before at least 4:30 in the morning no matter what time i wake up or how long iv been awake for or even what iv done during the day and it is proper annoying doesnt fuck me up at work either cause i work 2-10 so it fits nicely but i find it really really frustrating, i think the melatonin was what i was after thanks djprocess and ta for everyones contributions i appricate it

oh and i tried the old reading a book thing once did not work, jsut ended up reading it 1984 just read it to the end started at about 2 am and jsut didnt stop

when your trying to get to sleep are you in bed???
i know it may sound odd but my doctor always told me not to go to bed untill i was tired, so if i couldnt get to sleep get out of bed and read and when i felt sleepy to go back to bed.

Have you ever considered that the hours you work maybe messing up your sleep pattern in the first place?

      Consider this

I come home from work at around 6pm have dinner etc and generally go to bed at about 11pm.

Thats roughly 5 hours worth of winding down time for me……

Its also seems to be about 5 hours from when you get home and finnally want to go to sleep.

the doctor told my g/f that too. if she couldnt sleep she’d go and sit downstairs for half an hour or so then come back to bed. seemed to work sometimes.

@jonny if your not finishing work till 10 that could be why you cant sleep till late, it takes a while for you to wind down after a day at work… also your body clock is probably used to staying up till 4am now and staying asleep till 12 or whatever. let us know how the melatonin works out…

yea i come sit in the living room and read for a bit but i never go back to bed i usually end up falling asleep on the sofa

I don’t think whats happening to you is un normal I think you body is naturally adjusting to the times you work…….just like when you visit another country.

I am just assuming this of course……..

I find camomile tea helps me to sleep….Infact any kind of hot drink without caffiene generaly does the trick.

i have the worst sleep ever me i fall asleep straight away, but wake around 2/3am and thats it cannot get back to sleep, its driving me nuts , i really cannnot remember when i had a proper sleep:yawn:

i got these work out to suit round my inability to fall asleep, i was having alot more trouble when i was working 9-5 since i was late almsot daily and by several hours until i got fiiiired which was not long
