  • Pretty interesting findings here:

“After 20 years of testing, researchers found some buzzworthy results: regular marijuana smokers (defined by up to a joint a day for seven years) had no discernable impairment in lung activity from non-smokers. In fact, researchers were surprised to find marijuana smokers performed slightly better than both smokers and non-smokers on the lung performance test. Why? The most likely explanation seems to be that the act of inhaling marijuana—holding each puff in for as long as possible—is a lot like a pulmonary function test, giving marijuana smokers an edge over their cigarette smoking counterparts.”

Sounds like bullshit, inhaling fumes from burnt plant matter is going to be bad for your lungs no matter what tbh. Weed does dilate the bronchioles however.

Yeah this isn’t true. Ask ANYONE who smokes weed (and isn’t a moron) if smoking weed is good for the lungs and they will say no. As Deez said, clearly inhaling burning plant matter of any form can’t be good. But one things for sure it’s a lot better than inhaling burning tobacco.

Doesn’t really matter whether it’s biological plant material or synthetic plastic; I’d just avoid inhaling anything that’s on fire. Our bodies have evolved to do many things but inhaling waste product from combustion is not one of them.

The only reason for this is because of all the nasty additives that tobacco companies pump into the plant. If you grew your own tobacco there probably wouldn’t be a great amount of difference in the damage caused from these two plants to your lungs.

They were either very committed to finding the right answer or just enjoyed themselves immensely… possibly both?

A blog is not a reliable source. To make such a statement you have to do multiple tests, multiple times in front of multiple people, then record it all.

Well actually no, due to the nature of tobacco and its effects vs cannabis there would be quite a difference.

Medical marijuana is not a miracle cure for everyone, but it’s a very controversial medicine around the world. We have been discussing the issue on whether it should be legalized or not. A bill, which was launched in the legislature seeks to give a lawful defense to state-licensed medical marijuana users. The bipartisan effort of 18 lawmakers involves Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Ron Paul (R-Texas).

No form of smoke or hot gas is safe or good for your lungs, it burns and scars the little ventricles in the lungs that absorb oxygen in to the blood, thus causing high blood pressure, heart disease etc. The only way to use cannabis safely is to ingest it. Simple.

i know it can increase lung capacity. as far as being good or bad for your lungs I would say somewhere in between, smoke is carcinogenic but there are some anticancer cannabinoids in there so its pretty much a wash but with sustained heavy use there will be some deleterious effect.

Hmmm!! I don’t think It has a good impact on lungs.. But who cares 😉
