i think that “trying to make light of the situation” where a little girl has gone missing is damn out of order.
imagine how her parents would feel if they saw that? (lets not get into whether they were involved)
im not one of these people that cant take a joke, and im an upbeat guy. however i feel that trying to get some sort of amusement out of a someone going missing crosses a line.
if i died and people made jokes like this i wouldn’t mind personally. it’d suck if all people did was be upset and shit.

I may not agree with what he/she has said but I would die to defend his/her right to say it

Unless they’re French.

I always initially pretend to be a “Little Englander” and that I don’t know any French so I can try and work out if they are taking the piss or not and deserve appropriate correction…
seriously though whilst people may have the right to have different views “free speech” always has a cost, especially when discussing controversial subjects.
There is a 99% chance absolutely jack shit will happen to the person what set up this rather dubious group, unless his or her name is leaked into the local community and they suffer reprisals in the street. However, should any children actually disappear in the region they are from there is every chance they would become a suspect and cops would turn over their house.
in 2004/05 all the rave forums thought they were “getting away” with posting loads of free party info and photos, but they were all going in a Police intelligence files across the EU and eventually used to bust most of the free parties.
the real world is run by politicians, cops and soldiers, not idealistic hippies…

unfortunately as I once worked for an international electronics company as a project engineer I have had too much of French people of all genders complaining about stuff – and worse, engineers from places like Alcatel and Thomson – they who would attempt something overambitious and ill advised and then when it all went tits up ring me up and these grown men would actually cry like babies, something I was told was a common practice in France.
In my experience iv found the french to be either, very friendly and generally nice people OR arrogant bastards who just think your an ignorant westerner who shouts things like “A BAG OF CHIPS PLEASE” in french shops.

mostly these jokes are a misguided reaction to frustration at the disproportionate media reaction to madelines disappearance and the news being dominated by irrational emotional reactions from people not directly involved
same with princess diana.

I actually shocked a Frenchman by sending him some French Diana jokes I had seen online (and this dude was actually a raver).
I still remember the Diana broadcasts, complete overkill as all this stuff came up on the telly like Union flags everywhere and announcements like “This is the BBC from London, broadcasting to Britain and the World” – there was also some skirmish in the Middle East at the same time as well as sporadic fighting in the Balkans and initially I thought it had all kicked off – my comment to my mate was “what a lot of fuss over a fucking road traffic collision – they normally just get one report on the news and that would be for a multi-vehicle crash..”
The Japanese had the right idea, apparently they dedicated their Diana memorial to road safety..
the royal family: its just another family, i dont see why it gets so much attention
no more important than any other road crash victim.
