hahahah thats not half bad at all!! i think the plan is to look for fairly last minute deals with our flights…
we’ve got our rough route sorted now
Chile
Peru
Equador
Travel up the coast of Colombia to Panama (maybe taking a detour to see Angel Falls in Venezuela)
Coasta Rica
Nicaragua
Honduras
Guatamala
Mexico – finishing on the Yucantan penisular
then maybe flying home from Belize
we looked into car dealerships in Santiago in Chile, found a site recomending us a good place to buy from and told us everything we need to know for buying a vehicle out there. we can get ourselves international driving lisenses for a fiver from the post office, they say to give about a week for buying a vehicle, pay with hard cash and we need to get something out there called an RUT…
we checked out out average costs and we can get a 10year old good 4×4 out there for about 2-3grand of english money so we’ll put a lot of our savings into that, then we’re going to travel up the continent that way at whatever pace takes our fancy…
so if anyone has travelled to these countrys and knows of any places and sights that we really cant miss out on, it would be great to know.
found a local beginners spanish course that begins in a couple of weeks so going to try and enrol on that and we’re going to look into what kind of travel insurance we need to look at and injections and what-not…
i’d advise booking as soon as you can, the prices only go up on those scheduled flights
